  • VE3 alongside VE2

I have just licenced the VE3 to connect to my new 32gb slave. The connection was very easy and everything works well.

When I opened the project that used VE@, though, it opend with the blank VE3 instead and didn't load any of the sounds I used and saved in theis project.

I had to uninstall VE3 in order for the project to open again with VE2.

Is there any way to open older songs with VE3 or to be able to still use VE2? Or am I missing something?

    Thank you.

  • if i'm not completely wrong you *only* need to re-assign the tracks in your host to the channels in VE3 - don't forget to copy any custom presets/matrices ... the .viframe-file should be compatible

and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Thanks for the advise, Christian.

Perhaps the VE3 would open blank because it couldn't find the shared folder with Vienna presets. I don't know but projects would just open with the black VE3 default instance.

I think I found the solution though. At least I can open my old VE2 projects.

After uninstalling the VE3 I installed it into a different folder, under different name and called it a Vienna Ensemble 3. That way whenever I open the projects that used VE2 they open with VE2 but when I open a new instance of VE  it opens VE3.

Perhaps it is possible to rename the dll and have both VE2 and VE3 in the VST folder?
