  • VE3 on 32gb slave - constant break-ups. Please help!!

    Hi,

I have just built a slave PC to run VE3.

I have loaded 4 instruments in one instance of VE, totalling about 1.5 of ram. Streaming from a separate non system drive.

The slave server is conected to the sequenser PC via a ethernet crosscable and accesed via Remote Desktop.

When I play the midi I hear constant dropouts and break-ups in the sound. About once every 5, 10 seconds the system hangs for about one second and then continues to play. The GUI of VE3 also freezes during those break-ups.

The cpu meeter in VE3 show around 4%. The ram is 10%.

I did disable the virtual ram but I don't think it helped too much.

What can I do to fix the problem?

    Thank you.

P.S. I put this system together following Christian's recommendation, so I don't think there are any issues on a hardware side.

    My system:

    Intel S5000PSL motherboard.

    2x Xeon 5140 CPUs.

    32gb Kingston KVR667D2D4F5K2/8G ram.

    3x 750GB SATA II Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 7200RPM 32MB ST3750330AS with a separate system drive.

    Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

  • you would need to find out what makes the system hang - see if the taskmanager (performance or processes tab) can give you any hints.

select *show processes from all users, if enervated by the security popups disable UAC, accessible from the taskmanager's performance tab in vista there is also a resource monitor which could give some hints ...
