    Hi Matthew,

You won't've wasted your money, don't worry. There are hundreds (at least) of people using the Vienna Instrument (VI) and Vienna Ensemble (VE) plug-ins with Logic, it's one of the most popular configurations. Personally I use Pro Tools so I can't really help with anything specific to Logic but there are a few basic things I can suggest. But before that, you've not really given us much info to go on - e.g. which versions of OSX, Logic, VI and VE plug-ins, what hardware you've got, etc.

Have you installed VE yet? The free version (v2) will have been placed in your User Area on this website when you registered the software. Also have you been through the whole registration process, updated to the latest Synchrosoft drivers, downloaded licences, etc.? This is explained in the documentation that comes in the SE box.

Have you repaired permissions on your Macintosh HD? It's worth doing regularly on any Mac and especially when installing any new software. A search of this forum reveals that this is often the solution to initial problems with the SE. That'd certainly be the first thing I'd try. Go to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility, highlight "Macintosh HD" then click on "Repair Disk Permissions" and leave it to do its stuff for a few minutes. Then reboot. Now try. If it still doesn't work, try uninstalling VI, repairing, rebooting, reinstalling, repairing and rebooting again.

If all else fails, I'd suggest you e-mail VSL support - they're very helpful and will get you up and running. But do also search this forum as someone else will probably have had and fixed the same problem as you. Or if you can let us have some more info then you'll probably get more replies - people around here are very friendly and there's nearly always some expert lurking.

    Good luck!

    Nick

OK - the best thing to do is to run through exactly what you've done so far in bullet points and maybe someone can see straightaway where you've gone awry.
