The problem is that I can't install GS4 on my new Windows XP x64 partition.

I have The Vienna Key and it works perfectly.

To test the dongle I have installed GS 4 on my old PC with Windows XP 32 bit and it works perfectly.

In WXP 64 bit I can see TASCAM Gigastudio 4.x on the Syncrosoft  control center, but, when I launch GS4, I get these messages:

Cannot complete operation without the Gigastudio4 Licence
please plug in  the USB dongle containing the Gigastudio4 Licence
and then
SYNSOACC.dll does not have the expected interface

I have tried all the things that Syncrosoft have suggested, like erasing Synsoacc, re-installing last Syncrosoft Center in overwrite mode, take out the Vienna-Key but I get always the same messages:

Am I the only one?

Grazie

I've seen Syncrosoft get confused with multiple dongles. Does GS4 launch with the Vienna Key pulled out? You can transfer the GS4 license to your Vienna key in License manager, that may solve your problem.

I just received GS4 this morning and installed it on a new Vista x64 machine.  The only dongle on this PC is for GS4; VI on a different machine.  Anyway, the program installed fine and the licensing went fine.  The license for GS4 is on the dongle, but when I launch GS4 it tells me it cannot find the license or the dongle.  Retry does nothing, and cancel gives me SYNSOACC.dll does not have the expected interface.

I just submitted a support ticket to Tascam.  Frustrating...

This is an answer I had from Best-Service:

I talked with one guy here in munich which builds Giga or VSL machines for studios. He told me that he has on two machines the same problem. But he never found out what happens. The same configuration runs on 98 machines and not on this two and yours. If it doesnt´work send it back, we have no solution.
I have asked Tascam for a refund procedure but still got no answer.
Please let me know if you get a solution. Sergino

Here is the response I received from Tascam CS.  I've not been home to verify this yet.

There are two causes for that error:

1. there are two different filesSynsoacc.dll onto the PC

2. the version number of fileSynsoacc.dll and Synsopos.exe don't match

- please look in all Hard Drives for the file Synsoacc.dll and delete all files

Synsoacc.dll, which have been found....

Afterwards:

Here are detailed instructions on installing the Syncrosoft License

Control Center using the "parameter /o" (overwrite) installation in Windows

Vista:

1. Please uninstall the Syncrosoft LCC. To do this, go to the Start

menu in Windows, Control Panel, Programs and Features, and

remove

the Syncrosoft License Control Center entry.

2. Delete the folder 'Syncrosoft' from your Windows system partition

in the 'Program Files' folder.

3. Download the latest version of the Syncrosoft LCC to your desktop

from www.syncrosoft.com, downloads, license control center,

download for PC, and click save.

4. Now start the command prompt by going to Start, Programs,

Accessories, and select Command Prompt.

5. Right click with your mouse on the Syncrosoft installer, and

select properties. Please note the path at "Location:"

6. Now enter this path into the command prompt, and add

SyncrosoftLicenseControlSetup.exe /o

Example: C:\Users\(YourUsername)\Desktop

\SyncrosoftLicenseControlSetup.exe /o

7. After entering this, press 'Enter' and the LCC will be installed

in "overwrite" mode

this is exactly the same responce I have received.

It is supposed to work only for Vista but I have tried it anyway on W XP 64.

It didn't work for me.

Can you tell me if it does for you?

Ciao

Unfortunately, this did NOT work.  I tried for a few hours deleting files, reinstalling, etc.  I cannot get this to work and it is quite frustrating.

There is something really absurd:

I have bought the new computer and installed the GVI GVP modeled piano that TASCAM gave free for Giga users.

It worked perfectly.

Since I have tried to install Gigastudio4 it stopped working.

from the moment  I gave up and  deleted all the Gigastudio 4 files, it works as good as in the first moment.

there is something really nasty between my (and your?) PC and Gigastudio 4.

With the 2 from Best service, we are now 4 people with an useless software.

I have emailed TASCAM for sending it back without receiving an answer.

Please let me know about your attempts,

Sergio

Sergino,

I don't know if you've solved your problem yet. I have had the same error messages when installing GVI on a XP64 computer. But tonight, I was succussful in getting it installed.

I followed the removel process of Syncrosoft as mentioned above. Then I did NOT re-install syncrosoft LLC. Instead, I just re-loaded GVI from disk, which also contains is an older version of Sycrosoft LCC which is loaded automatically with GVI. As that was the only version of the LCC now on the computer, it doesn't conflict when GVI tries to access the license.

I don't know if GS4 ships with a pre-installed dongle licence, but this is the way GVI shipped so Tascam put the LCC on the GVI disk.

I haven't loaded any sounds into GVI yet, but so far, Sonar 7 (64 bit) is recognizing and launching GVI and GVI has not license issue -- so far so good. I'll test some sounds tonight.

Let me know what you've been able to find out.

Good luck.

Well, I may have spoken too soon. I have three different keys on one computer. Two vsl (syncrosoft) keys, which contain my VSL licenses, and a tascam (syncrosoft) key which has the GVI license attached and also one VSL Harp library license. It seems that I can't use all three keys at the same time and have them recognized.

As I wrote in the post above, I was able to get GVI running by re-installing GVI and letting it put the older version of the LLC on the computer. But now, VE64 says that no "proper license is found' when I try to run VE64 Service. The licenses for VSL show up in the LCC, but VE Service doesn't see them.

So, I'm guessing, I can use either the GVI key or update Syncrosoft LCC again, lose the GVI ability, but gain back the VE64 ability. I have an inkling that they are not going to run at the same time.

Will report back..... over and out.......

Arggg.

Ok, just posting my update because it may help others with the same issue.

I updated the LCC to the latest version and things seem to be working. I can open both GVI and VE64 in Sonar 64 and load instruments. Next step is to hook up the sound card and see if we can get sound.

So, the initial thinking is that you load GVI first and let the older version of Syncrsoft LCC load from the GVI disk. Then update Syncrosoft to the newest version.

Sergino,
I'm joining this late but this morning after installing x64 vista on my quad core I got this problem with the sycrosoft and Giga4x64. I saw the instructions that Tascam had sent and went through them. Found the .dll after uninstalling sycrosoft and then also cleared off G4x64. Then
reinstalled Giga4 and tried it, no luck of course as you guys did, but then I reinstalled the latest sycrosoft (5.4.8.13) install with the
"/o"param and that did the trick. G4 came right up. I even updated the version from the latest on Tascams site (4.01) and still no problems yet.

On the other side, I plugged in my Vienna key and now it won't show up in the Control Center. Can there only be one Key? I could always
move the Vienna licenses over to the one Key (using other computer) but.... Still going at it.

The routine you have followed is for Vista 64.

I tried it the same on W XP 64 but with no positive effect.

Sorry about that, I didn't read the XP64 part :( Its working fine in Vista, just had to transfer the VSL keys over to the giga4 key
and I can use giga4 as a host with VSL ensembles and also load up giga files as well. Brought in a Play and ran that up to see
how far I could go and its all holding. I wish I had more for you on the XP64 side.

hang in there...

I have just bought an i7 machine running WIndows 7, and the same issue is happening to me - did anyone ever get this to work on WIndows 7? I am also running the VSL VE PRO, so can't go to an old version of the elicenser software.
