  • How I love this company! With each new release you top yourself. Can't wait to take advantage of the power panning plug in....finally I can forget this nasty direction mixer in Logic! Thanks Herb!

  • *touches self to GUI screenshots* but seriously, now I've got to go out and find 400e. I think it's great that VSL have become such an honest and reliable company that without any idea of what this product will be like in terms of quality, I'm already looking for the cash to get it. It takes a lot of skill to get people to buy blind! (Though obviously I'll play around with the demo first :D) I note that it's called the 'standard' edition.. might the 'Pro' edition, if you will ;), contain ... MIR? Excellent, excellent work VSL. You are a model business. EDIT: ... Jazz Drums! Oh VSL! http://vsl.co.at/en/211/1343/1465/1080.vsl PS sorry, my browser hates HTML formatting, goddammit Chrome!

this has been just a relict from default labeling and corrected now ... do not await an extended version - MIR will be a seperate product ...

  • I see. Thanks Christian!

  • In terms of quality, how VS compares to Sonnox or Massenburg plugins? What's the philosophy behind the eq? Is it meant to be transparent or coloring, modeled on a hardware predecessor?
"High-end" is a pretty daring claim. The price point suggests rather the medium class...

When it's available you can simply download the demo and form an opinion.

  • I see the free Jazz drums when you buy the VS, but are the drums available for purchase now without the suite? I clicked around and couldn't find a way to do that. Excited about them... thanks!

You could look at that as an advantage, too! ;-)

  • Will there be a tutorial included? What kind of presets are we talking about? (Don't be afraid to share the whole list ;) )

  • Wow Vibrato, what kind of loser is up at this time on a sunday?! *checks own watch* ... Oh..*coughs nervously*

  • MIR is the name of a Soviet space-station. And quite a successful one at that. In the context of VSL what is MIR? Please send replies COD, PDQ and ASAP as this is an SOS.

  • I suppose no-one ever thought of getting an Impulse Response from the glorious craft?

  • Hi

I too would like to know what the difference is between the power panning plugin and what is already available with Vienna Ensemble?

If you go to the GUI screenshots of the Vienna Suite plugs, you'll  see all the parameters of the Power Pan tool. (scrolling down to Power Pan)

    http://vsl.co.at/en/211/496/945/1456/1460/1073.htm

The parameters which are  available in the Vienna Ensemble Power Panner are more or less "Center" and  "Width".

Further it's possible in the Vienna Suite plugs to make numerical input and saving your personal presets within each plug.

The Jazz Drums are an exclusive goody for the Vienna Suite and can't be purchased seperarely.

  • Looking at the interfaces for these, they certainly do look beautifully designed - congrats, VSL!

Hmmmmm. I'm tempted to get the Plugin Suite just for the Jazz Drums! [*-)]

I would definitely like the Power Pan for use in Logic. I wonder if the other plugs are better than Logic's built-in ones - I suppose I'll wait for the demo.

  • Wow, this looks exciting, and it's totally unexpected at my end.

Having a transparent EQ that can be used outside of Digital Performer is almost worth the price of admission alone. I have literally evaluated every native EQ out there, and nothing compares to the transparency of MOTU MasterWorks EQ, except for the Sonnox EQ that it emulates.

IK Multimedia has a VERY short-term advance pricing for pre-orders on the brand-new TracKS 3. No audio demos for that product AFAIK. It sure would be nice to be able to compare these products before the 12 November deadline!
