    Hi, I'm in the process of looking for a new computer and I'm thinking of buying either a Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz or Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, with an ASUS P5Q-E motherboard. I compose with Sibelius and would like to start buying VI solo instruments, Ircam solo instruments and & perhaps Xsample Chamber Ensemble or Bela d'media's Crypt(whenever it becomes available). As for effects: Altiverb & perhaps Vienna Suite. I'm would greatly appreciate any suggestions you may have given the above. Thanks, Dom

    my opinion: consider a Q9450 or even Q9550 (faster FSB, larger cache, better architecture ...) since it seems you're intending to upgrade further and plugins will like the larger cache ... difference in price shouldn't be too ovewhelming ...

    Thanks so much for your help, Christian. I wish I had posted here first instead of spending hours researching on the net. I'll go with the Q9550, it's only $20.00 more than the Q9450 here in Toronto.
