  • Saving Vienna Ensemble projects with Sibelius

I am using Sibelius 5.2.5 and the latest version of Vienna Ensemble 2. I have been assuming that saving the Sibelius file would save the various settings in Vienna Ensemble (such as using velocity cross-fade, filter settings, and other fine tunings), but this does not seem to be the case with the orchestral piece I am currently working on. Do I need save each of the two Vienna Ensemble instances that the piece requires as named projects in order to save the various tweaks to the settings?

  • Hello Randall!

Saving your Playback configuration should be enough. Settings for both Vienna Ensemble instances should be saved by that.

    Best wishes,
    Andi

  •  As Andi already notes, VSTi settings are saved in the playback configuration and not in the sibelius file. It's actually very handy when working on multiple scores.

  • In summary incase it helps anyone: There are 3 things to save: The score in Sibelius, The playback configuartion in Sibelius, and finally the Vienna Ensemble settings, which are saved as an FXP file from within Vienna Ensemble Kevin

  • Hi Kevin!

Actually the Vienna Ensemble settings get saved as .VIFRAME files.

Normally saving the score and your Playback Configuration is enough and you don't have to save the Vienna Ensemble settings separately. But remember to always save the Playback Configuration after making changes to your Vienna Ensemble settings.

If you want to use the same Vienna Ensemble settings also with other host software (for example Cubase or Logic) or in standalone mode, you will need the .VIFRAME files though.

    Best,
    Andi
