  • Problems when bouncing solo'ed tracks in Logic Pro 8

    Hi there,

I am having problems when bouncing individual solo'ed tracks in Logic. If I want to export a track as a .wav file, upon playback of the file I will hear an occasional awful sequence of 'interference' / loud clicks and pops that will come in at random points and completely distort the sound.

I am writing in here as I am not sure if this problem has something to do with my settings in the VI (I use the Special Edition library). I'm using the Apogee Duet sound card, and wouldn't think that has anything to do with this, but maybe I'm wrong...?

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Matt

  • This could have many causes, it's hard to tell without knowing your system setup. Are you streaming the samples from the system drive or do you have a dedicated drive for your VSL samples? It could be a disk overload cause you're writing to the same disk which you are streaming from. Does this also happen when you bounce in realtime or do the distortions only occur when bouncing offline?

  • I stream the samples off a separate internal disk. I had been bouncing offline - just tried bouncing the tracks in real time and have not experienced any problems upon playback of the .wav files. Why is this?

    Thanks,

    Matt

  • Well maybe during offline bouncing the sample rate conversion gets messed up, VSL samples are all coded in 44.1/24 Bit so if you´re working in a 48khz project the sampler are converted to 48khz within Logic, during offline bounceing this can obviously cause trouble.

  • Oh right..well, as far as I am aware, the project has been written in 44.1khz (how would I be able to tell otherwise?) so I don't see that as being the issue here.
