  • Logic vs Cubase

Ok, I know this topic has been driven into the ground, but my situation might be a bit special.

I currently use Logic Studio 8. I love the way it works, and all the features. But Apple doesn't seem to update this to work with high memory and such.

I get frequent hangups causing me to force quit. I get a lot of "disk too slow" errors even when no audio is really being played.

Overall, I'm considering trying Cubase. But my question is, what are the disadvantages and advatages of Cubase 4(full package)

Are the plugins that come with it decent?

Does it run VSL quite well? Any better?

How does it deal with Kontakt, VSL, and any other applications operating OUTSIDE of the sequencer?

Interface easy to use. Editing? Volume Curves?

Anything that any Logic user that went to Cubase want to say here? Or just stay with Logic, and work out the kinks?

How does Cubase work in terms with heavy orchestration and engineering in comparison to Logic?

How does Cubase deal with EXS or AKAI libs?

TL'DR Version: Convince me to change to Cubase from Logic.

  • If you have disk too slow, and hangups, you have a computer/memory and disk problems.
Tell us more about your setup your memory and audio settings and how is it organized

From I know from one of my friend that uses Cubase, he was not happy with it and just moved to Logic

    Best

    Cyril

P.S. Snow Leopard should fix all the memory problems, I hope than Apple will release a version of Logic taking all the features of Snow Leopard

if one ore another program has advantages or disatvantages depends highly on your own workflow. I personally could not find any disadvantages in comparison to logic, although cubase has some issues that should be dealt with.
C4 works fine with VSL, Kontakt and so on. As far as Virtual Instruments are concerned, I see only advantages on the Cubase-side.
interface is different, but as soon as you know how it works, everything is logical and selfexplanatory.
the plugins in cubase are really good. furthermore you get midi-plugins that logic does not have.
I can really recommend cubase. especially now that the price has dropped, there is not even a monetary advantage for logic. but thatĀ“s just my personal experience depending on my likings and my workflow. I donĀ“t miss logic at all and IĀ“m glad I made the change...
