  • How do U treat the piatti???

Somehow, I don´t get a good piatti sound. So maybe someone has some good hints, how to treat the VSL-piattis. Here is an example of one, I like:

    http://www.hohes-b.de/Piatti.mp3

Is this really just a piatti?

    Which size should I use?

What effects (e.g. EQ) should I add to achieve this sound?

    So many questions!!!

  • hey Felix

I tend to use the larger Piatti for the big crash sounds, i dont do anything special with it ether, if you go to my site www.andrewmclean.org and listen to the background track about 12 seconds in theres a crash there.  I did nothing but route the channel (which had reverb early reflections) through to a master reverb channel (tail only) which then routes to the master channel which would have an exciter and an overall EQ.  But if your still finding it hard to get a good crash maybe add an EQ on the Piatti channel and enhance the top end to bring out its higher frequencies as I can imagine increasing the mid range would end up making the sound very saturated.

    hope this helps

    Andrew

  • I´m not yet, where I wanted to be, be the exciter helps a lot. Thank you!

  •  Use the MIR processed sounds (full set of percussions) and a plugin like Waves L2 to expand/compress (if needed). As a percussionist, this is my tip !! But caution ... sometimes, the 120-127 velocities are to "hard" ... better when you play "smoother"

  • Take 'em out for a nice meal, maybe a show (get seats near the back, 'cos they can get a bit noisy). Then a bunch of flower and some choccies should do the trick.

  • yeah but dont put out on the first date, make them wait lol
