  • Suggestions for IR Convolution Plug-In

I am looking for a low-cost (or free) IR convolution plug-in for the Mac. I already have Altiverb, but don't really want to take the dongle outside the studio for any use with VSL. Bad enough that I have to take the Vienna Key with me when traveling. :-)

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Jürgen,

the only IR convultion plug-in for mac that comes spontaneously into my mind is SIR2 by Kunfinke

    http://www.knufinke.de/sir/sir2.html

But at a cost of 125 € I guess it is not really low-cost. And I do not really know about the quality of this plug-in... SIR1 is free, but seems to exist only for Windows...

    Have a nice evening,

     Jonas

  •  Voxengo Pristine Space is $119.95.

    Best regards,

    Henrik

  • The Voxengo one is only for pc. You have Waves IR, SIR2 and if you are a logic user, you can use space designer, either, if you use more PT, TL Space Reverb; or if you are a DP6 user, the new Proverb. I have just bought altiverb, and I am soooo happy with it! :) Greetings, Vanessa.

  • Hi Juergen,

Vanessa is right, AltiVerb is always a good choice, though definitely more expensive than SIR2 or ProstineSpace. Waves IR-x family of plugins is of good quality, too.

But if you're not in a hurry, you could wait a few days for - hopefully - interesting announcements on our website. :-)

OK, now you're officially killing me! [:)]

    Thanks for the reply!

  • Dietz

Hypothetically then if there were to be an exciting announcement (other than MIR) can you also confirm that

    i) The VS price won't go up

ii) If I were to buy VS now I won't miss out on any hypothetical new product

iii) VS will include said product - hypothetically of course...

    TIA

  •  I tend to be to wordy so I am glad Tim jumped in to ask what I wanted to know in much fewer words then I would have come up with.  The suspense is killing me as I am at the point of buying a reverb but I don't have money to throw away to own a bunch of reverb libraries.  And MIR is potentially to powerful for my environment (sadly, but won't be truly known until release).

    Hi Tim

Thanks - for those of you being lazy it said...

There will be some more plug ins added to the Vienna Suite.

If you already have bought the Suite or buy before these new plus are added you'll get them for ´"free".

The price of the whole bundle will increase after we've added these new plugs.

    best

    Herb

Please can VSL confirm this is still the case as this statement was made in Nov 08 as the world moves on, credit crunch, global recession etc etc....

    Thanks

    Tim

  • Don't know how to qoute from another thread so was being a bit lazy myself. [;)]

As for the world moving on and crunched credit etc - works for buyer and seller alike.

  • I'm in the same boat as many of you are (looking for an IR plug-in).  So I guess my question is, do I buy Alitverb or Vienna Suite w/Convolution Reverb?  Also, as I am fairly new to IR Convolution Reverb, what are the differences between Alitverb and Vienna's Convolution Reverb?

    --Lee

  • Well I couldn't afford Altiverb and some natty mastering tools so I took the plunge with VS on the basis that their sample stuff sounds great so the mastering tools should be at least good and their IR (even though unreleased) would be better than Space Designer and maybe as good as Altiverb  (if not better too).  Plus it was a lot cheaper than Ozone + Altiverb! [:D]

Hoping for some more info on the IR myself now the boys are back from Messe and perhaps even some demos, maybe one with space designer, one with the new IR and one with MIR so we can compare and contrast....

    Best
