As we are not allowed to take advantage of the '4 for 3' Spring offer we have decided to terminate our relationship with VSL. Can we please be removed from the mailing list and can all reference to 3D3 World, our tax number and address be removed from your database.

Can you advise of the process for transferring licenses as intend to dispose of our collection.

  • For all of these requests, I would suggest that you contact support at vsl dot co dot at

  • Hmmm... sounds sad. Sorry to hear about your trouble. However, I am in the market for VSL, if you can let me know what you have to offer and wish to raise, we might be able to do some business. Kind regards Georg Baumann

  • I can't be dealing with these s**ts any more. You should also be wary.

I purchased 3 instruments on Friday. On Monday they announce a 4 for 3 deal. Although I paid for the software on Friday I didn't actually take delivery until Monday as my web connection is slow. I asked politely if I could have a free instrument which I feel that I am legally (and also morally) entitled to. After all- a sale is not final until the goods are delivered- and in my case the goods were not delivered until Monday morning. A free single instrument is not a huge financial burden on VSL but a welcome free gift for a small school like ours (www.3D3world.com). Given the substantial sums of money we've put their way I might have thought a little flexibility was in order. But oh no. When the sun shines out of your f***cking ass you can feel free to put your nose in the air and look down on your lowly customers.

We are not just angry. We are incensed. And if you follow the discussions on Gearslutz relating to their licensing policy you may well think that you are dealing with some inflexible dictatorial regime.

The fellow Stefan Steinbauer, who is the head salesman, has no idea how to deal with customers. Each successive communication from him just raises the temperature higher.

  • Hello,

I have to jump in here. I went through the communication you had with Stefan Steinbauer over the last year. I don´t even think that i have to mention that Stefan was polite, friendly and patient as always. Has ANYBODY experienced him in any other way?

He was making an educational discount for the Special Edition Bundle available to you (although you are not a university, but a private school, which is absolutely out of the ordinary). You obviously forgot about that. This is not a standard procedure.

He also explained the "problem" with time-limited offers (they only work within a certain time-frame, by design), and made you an offer to compensate the fact that you ordered just a little too early - and you seemed to agree to that deal. All of this was in a very friendly way.

Then you decided to post here in the forum - very strange, as we find.

So I´d kindly ask you to rethink your position.I´m sure that we can work something out in a civilized way.

    Best,

    Paul

  • I'd hate to hear what he would have said if he got stuck with the pre-VI non-upgradeable First/Pro Edition:

I found the license term and it looks that I can not purchase from you in any case.

Is it OK to sell the used disc to someone else if I´m finished with the project that I needed it for? NO. Unlike your musical gear, music CDs, or even software, you cannot give away or sell these discs to someone else. YOU DID NOT PURCHASE THE DISC. YOU PURCHASED A LICENSE TO USE OUR SOUND RECORDINGS IN YOUR MUSIC. This license cannot be transferred by you

I would contact support and ask, because it may be possible to transfer the licence. Steinberg allows it for a small administration fee. However, if we are only talking about a few licences, it may turn out not to be worth the hassle.

  • Hello Paul,

I'm sure we can work something out. You are correct when you say that Stefan has always been polite. There is no denying that.

You must understand that much as we enjoy the VSL products - and they are magnificent -  we have a very small budget for software and hardware. And this year has been particularly difficult for us as orders are down. (And we are all in the same boat.)

What was annoying about Stefan's response is that it did not recognise the fact that in spite of the recession we are still spending. Furthermore Stefan knows that with our limited budget we are always looking for discounts and he might have hinted that we wait another day before ordering.

And most importantly. We were offered another deal by Stefan - but we would have had to have purchased another 2 items. So whereas most customers merely had to buy 3 items for the 'free' gift we would have had to have purchased 5.

Given that we are good customers and that we promote your products to our students (never under-estimate that service) and that we assist other VSL users with technical problems I think a little more generosity would have been welcome.
