Hi guys,
Any suggestions on a 32GB Ram slave PC ?
- motherboard ?
- which CPU
- which RAM
- 1600 or 1333 ?
- which version of Windows: XP64 or ...Vista?
OR should I go for a pre-assembled DELL server off some sort...
Thanks so much!

any board with an intel 5000 series chipset will be fine (there are even a few DELL workstations available)
CPU is not so much an issue than memory and only for VE3 1333 vs. 1600 wouldn't make too much difference - i'd say a resonable preset would need 6-8 GB, add another ~ 6 GB for individual patches of a certain arrangement.
i personally prefer XP64 because of the smaller footprint, but you should make sure that XP64 drivers are available for all components of the board in advance.

Thanks CM!
Good to know that there isn't that much difference between 1333 and 1600.
And Yes, a good point, 32GB might be overkill for the time being.
I'm looking into other options, including a nice 12GB i7 system.
A little side question;
My main PC runs XP home; can a slave PC (with VE3) be run from my main system with remote desktop?

Hi Emanuel,
Now that the Nehalem based Xeon are available, I think you should look at it, especially if you would use the MIR in the future.
And yes, remote desktop is available with your Xp Home.
Edit :
Core i7 motherboard : 12 GB and 24GB in the future (when the 4GB non ecc sticks will be available at a correct price).
Some Core i7 motherboard with Xeon 35XX : 24GB with DDR3 Ecc (high price too)
Xeon 55XX motherboard : up to 48GB with 4GB Ecc reg memory (Not so costly).
