    hi,
    i couldn't find it, but... is there anything like a vsl accordion collection?
    if not, can someone recommend a great library for tango (no loop please), which would work well with vse+ and appassionata strings instruments.
    using sibelius 5+logic 8+kontakt 3
    thanks,
    d.

  • Hi Denis,

    right now, VSL doesn't offer an Accordion. We have no plans to record one in the near future, sorry to say so (as I've learned and played Accordion for many years ;-) ...).

  • I think Dietz has been mismanaged.  Instead of using his skills on building a highly complex and innovative multi impulse response reverb engine, Herb should have been using him to record the Vienna Accordion!  You could have even done it in your spare time!

    Oh well - the world will be a poorer place because of this.

    That said on a more serious note.  Vienna Ethnic Instruments would be nice....

    😄 ... oh no, you wouldn't want to hear that, believe me. This was more than 30 years ago, and I haven't played one since the last millenium. 8-P

  • Thanks for the answer. I think I just wished every instrument came in a VSL package (with a hassle-free Synchrosoft key, but that would be in an ideal world). Any suggestion for a good library for tango? I guess that we'll eventually ask an accordionist to play the score. But I'd need something fairly decent at least for composition.

  • Hi Denis -

    Check out the accordion that is part of the UVI IRCAM Solo Instruments library.

    There is some really nice stuff in this library, played by some of the best performers in Paris. Great for extended techniques.

    If you're after some of the other instruments as well as the accordion, the library starts to become really good value.

    Cheers,
