Unzipping the exe files with UnRarX works a treat. Thanks so much for that.

I'm going to miss a lot of the First Edition legato instruments. Are there upgrade paths available for the flute, clarinet and bassoon in particular?

so sorry to say: there will be no newer/updated/maintained versions of the exs performance tool.

Really a bad news, even if I understand that it may be complicated to port ePT in 64-bit...

Is it that complicated?

Not sure of that, but maybe users of exs Pro (and First) would accept to pay something for an update of the Tool, or am I wrong?

it might be not too complicated, but according to the post above the interface is not supported by logic in 64 bit.

the performance tool will remain available in the user area *as is* but no maintenance for newer operating sytems will take place- also not for windows 7 (32 or 64 bit).

sorry - legacy stuff, christian

Christian, any news on upgrade paths for specific First Edition instruments?

unfortunately the upgrade paths have expired long ago, but maybe you could take advantage of the current offer.

a quick look into the old upgrade prices indicate that even the 20% discount option makes upgrading cheaper than the original upgrade discounts from the first edition ...

i'd suggest you contact VSL Sales for more details, christian

Hi Christian,

Thanks for your answer.

I've seen that there are some attempts and explanations about converting exs libraries (Pro and Horizon) to Kontakt formats, I'll try some.

Can VSL donate the performance tool code to apple for a hopeful 64bit version?

i'd assume you cannot convince apple it would be essential to add the interface for the performance tool to exs in logic 64bit.

maybe migrating opus 1 + 2 to kontakt is an option for you?

So, does the performance tool still work using Snow Leopard and the latest version of Logic in 32 bit mode?

Bless you!  My performance tool had disappeared after a fresh install of Logic 9 on a new MacPro.  I did just what you said and voila!  It's there and working just fine.  many thanks...

best,

julie

Didn't get an answer to my earlier post, so I thought I'd try again. Can anyone tell me if the performance tool still works in Logic 9/Snow Leopard if running in 32 bit mode?

Thanks!

Yes, it does.  I'm not sure how (or if) the editor works since my only library from that time period is Epic Horns (and I never had need to edit them) - but it does work perfectly in OSX 10.6.5/Logic 9.1.3.

Thanks, Jim! I've been waiting for that reply before upgrading to Snow Leopard. Any other peculiarities I should be aware of?

Hi Marnix

I need further help please. I followed your recipe - everything from scratch - but the Performance Tool does not show up in the EXS Edit window. This was all working perfectly in Logic 7 on 10.5.8.

My setup:

10.6.6

Logic 9.1.3

Opus 1 Orchestra

Thanks, Mark
