Hi,
Thanks for reporting - seems weird though!
We are currently investigating this issue and I will post our results here as soon as possible.
Since all of us appear to have upgraded directly from Logic Pro 8, we will actually have to start from scratch, so this might take us a little time...
Best, Marnix

Hi all,
OK, all clear - no problem!
Installed MacOS 10.6 from scratch on a freshly formatted partition, ran Software Update for 10.6.1, repaired permissions, installed Logic Pro 9 from scratch, ran Software Update for 9.0.1, repaired permissions again and installed Performance Tool 1.1, downloaded from http://vsl.co.at/en/68/427/157/164/58.htm - Performance Tool shows allright as a Tab in EXS Edit window and Performance Patches play as expected!
Colin, I wonder what went wrong in your case...!
DanJo, please reinstall the Performance Tool 1.1, which is available in your User Area (URL above) and which is the only one for Intel Macs (1.08 was PPC only!), and please let us know wether this solved the problem!
Best, Marnix

Thanks Marnix. Maybe I missed something or it was an issue they solved in Logic 9.0,1? Glad to know it's working. Colin

Yes Colin, this was fixed in 9.0.1.

I'm very confused about the XS Key for the VSL Pro edition. I had a temporary authorization from VSL on my White XS Key (logic 7) which has expired and It's been so long that I don't recall how we did this. I'm running the Pro Edition Cube with the Performance Set and some EXS Horizon Series libraries. - How do I obtain a permanent license for the Performance Tool?? - Why does Apple NOT recommend using the XS Key Manager for adding activation codes to White XS Keys? Then how do you Activate? - Was I to receive another XS Key from VSL? Please Help!! Thank you, Haik

today Logic 9.1 was released promising 64 bit support, but under the article re. 64 bit it is stated that Vienna Symphonic Library Tool isn´t currently advailable (among other things..)

I saw that as well. I hope its a temporary problem, but this is a major deal breaker for me! To me it seems like VSL will need to update their exs tools to 64 bit? Anyone think they will continue support, or is this the end of the road?

I certainly hope VSL will make it compatible.

I do also hope.... But VSL never did the job for Logic Pro 8, even though they promised (and wrote) they will do it ... I guess VSL is more interested in trying to convince people to buy new products than maintaining the "legacy stuff". Personally I will not upgrade as I am not happy with such lack of support. Ph

exs sample libraries had their final close-out sale sep 15th 2007 and are now - as mentioned above - considered to be legacy products.
since then 2 new (major) versions of operating system and logic came out and to my knowledge the performance tool still works except an annoying but minor grafical glitch for the repetition mode.
we at VSL are very happy that apple decided to keep the interface for the performance tool plugin open even in newer versions of logic, but we cannot expect to have this interface transferred to the 64-bit version too.
so sorry to say: there will be no newer/updated/maintained versions of the exs performance tool.

Not great news, but certainly understandable from a developer's standpoint. So, this begs the question (and I'm pretty sure I know the answer) - is there any chance Kontakt would successfully import the EXS version and take care of the legato scripting? I guess I'll give it a shot when I have a free moment - otherwise I'll just offload Epic Horns to my G5 slave that I use for older instruments... Thanks for the clarification Christian!

Hi Christian. The link took me to a Kontakt 2 page, but there's nothing in there. You've got me excited now though. :)

my reply was to whinecellarstudio ... nick, did you really register horizon epic horns 13.01.2010 for exs?
maybe we can help you too ...

Yes. I just registered it. Realising that you 'may' very kindly be offering Kontakt programs to EXS users I went to my registration page and noticed I hadn't yet registered Epic Horns that I bought years ago. The EXS libraries that I own (and should have registered) are Epic Horns, Concert Guitar, Glass and Stones, Mallets, Solo Strings, and First Edition. Thanks so much. Nick

Hi Christian, If those are what I think they are, a HUGE thank-you in advance. However, they are .exe files, and I'm a Mac guy, so they won't do me much good as-is... is there a way to convert them? Your generosity is MUCH appreciated!

I agree it's incredibly generous of you. Thankyou. I'm Mac too by the way. Can't do much with an exe file unfortunately.

as for the logic files please use UnRarX to uncompress the archives ... ignore the .exe which works for windows als selfextracting ....
some versions of stuffit also work well, but my recommendation would be to use UnRarX

there are no kontakt versions for the first and the pro edition - only for horizon series products ... so sorry ....
the cube products (exs versions) would import well into kontakt, but the performance elements will not (mapping in exs is too complicated for every importer we know) ... AFAIR re-mapping the giga version for exs took 1 month of 2 editor's work ....
