I was browsing around the product pages for various libraries since I am contemplating getting the "SE level2" upgrade or Woodwinds 1 standard. Now I noticed that on every page there is plenty of marketing lines and sales talk but some basic informations seem to be totally missing. Searching the forums also did not seem to help a lot... I don't quite get how the search function turns up loads of results that have little to do with my search terms. :(
1) How many dynamic layers do the articulations in each library have?
It depends on the articulation and the library. Common is:
- For Single Notes we have 3 - 4 - 5 Layers.
- For Dynamic Notes - such as dim and cresc we got 2 Layers
- Dynamic Notes - such as sfz, fp etc - we got 1 Layer
- Performance Notes (Legatos) come with 2 Layers
- Perf Repetition: 2 Layers
2) How many variations are included for each notes dynamic layer (e.g. short articulations)?

3) How do the VIs handle note repetitions? Is there something like Kontakt's "round robin" feature? Or something more advanced like those random note cycling scripts for K2 which float around?
There are two types
1. Perf Repetitions: You are selecting a repetion (portato slow, portato fast, staccato ...) VI is able to play each of these articulation within a certain range of tempo so that you get a natural sound (It makes no sense to play slow portato in a very fast tempo - of course). Let the VI select between portato slow, portato fast, staccato, spiccato ... etc. There is a possibility to switch between these repetitions depending on the tempo you play> a quite "handy function".
Most of these repetitions are recorded in a line of 8 rep notes. The line will start again after playing through the whole line.
2. Tempo Based Repetitions (In case of very fast tempos).
You select the repetions which where recorded at a certain tempo. There are 9 repetition tones in the row. 8 repetitions and a final note. If you want to play 4 repetitions you must hold down the key for the length of 3 notes. After the "note off" Vi is going to play the final one which will make the complete bundle of 4.

4) Are there any matrixes supplied by VSL (as in the SE) or do we have to build them all on our own? Is there a place for users to exchange matrixes?
You can select between several VSL matrix setups or your own ones. Save your collections together within your host program or
within the VI. I'm sure you will prefere your own basic-presets. Within Vienna Ensemble you are able to save whole orchestra layouts - articulation, effects, pannings and depths.
No, you have to use the "Sample Content" links of each instrument for compairing.
Of ocurse it is possible that I missed that information while looking around. Maybe someone can guide me to where I can it? Thanks in advance for the help!
