  • New MIR VSTi version

    Hi

I just received your newsletter about the new version of MIR that will also host other VST instruments. Will this new version also be able to send MIDI over LAN and audio back like Vienna Ensemble? Is this the premier version you had talked about? If so, I would def make the purchase before 31st!!!![:)]

  • Hi Simsy,

third party VSTi support is at the moment the only new feature which will be part of the current MIR version.

We have not finally decided yet, but maybe MIR PRO - which will cost more - will be a free upgrade for existing MIR users, especially for all early adaptors.

    all the best

    Herb

  • I don't understand, if the current MIR will be updated for third party VSTis in the next few weeks, what is Mir Pro going to include?

    Thks,

    Iván

  • I currently use the Firewire MOTU 828mkII (that now has 64 bit drivers) with my MacPro, and am most likely going to get a Xeon PC to run MIR. I am not fully understanding the sound card setup with new PC connected to my Mac. Can I use the MOTU driver and route the audio back to my DAW? Not sure if I can connect two computers to the 828. Will MIR Pro make this available?

  • Hello Ivan P and Simsy,

the LAN option is not included with MIR at the moment, and I can´t spill the beans for the features of MIR Pro, but it´s definitely another big step.

Rob, I´m afraid I don´t really get the question (then again, it´s been a looong day).

Think of MIR as hardware - you simply send MIDI there and route the audio signal back into your sequencer. Simple, really.

    Best,

    Paul

Rob, your mk II should have an adat I/O. You just connect Adat in and out of your Motu (Masters of the Universe ^^ ) Interface with. But you cannot conect two computers to one Interface. For that you need a second (less expensive) sound card on your slave (VE) computer. It just needs Adat and a 64 bit driver available. I use the RME 9632 for instance. Works great!

  • But be carefull with the Motu firewire driver for Vista 64... I could not get it to run at all (same interface) and I saw several people with the same issue on the motu forum (at least in Germany)...

There's a plethora of ideas for new features and possibilities. We will let you know as we get closer to a possible release date; right know we concentrate on the refinement of Vienna MIR, and on the needs and whishes of its users.

    Thanks for your interest,
