OK, cool.

Now the questions begin:

Here’s my first one. Full Mac 64-bit support means what? Will the Mac version do everything that the PC version will? Can I load up as much RAM as is on my computer? (Will I need Snow Leopard for this?)

What is Selective Project Merging? It sounds very hopeful. What does it do?

How is the timing latency with plugs like Omnisphere and RMX that require tempo information from the master computer's DAW?

I look forward to seeing your new interface. I’m glad you’re taking the opportunity to maximize your new friends by offering the sample package.

How about a picture of the new interface?

edit: Oh yeah, what's the audio input channel about? Does also it accept audio from the main DAW? And what are Link Pages?

Mac Master:
2010 Mac Pro 12-core. 3.46GHz, 64 GB RAM, OSX 10.12.3, Logic Pro X 10.3.1 ,VEP5, SSD system drive, etc.

PC Slave:
12-core e5650, 48 GB RAM, Win7, MIR Pro/VEP5, SSD system drive

Hi Jack,

here are some answers:

"Here’s
my first one. Full Mac 64-bit support means what? Will the Mac version
do everything that the PC version will? Can I load up as much RAM as is on my computer? (Will I need Snow Leopard for this?)"

=> Yes, you can load as many samples as you have RAM available with VE Pro, just as you can with the PC 64 bit version (works with VE 3 already). This feature also works with Leopard.

"What is Selective Project Merging? It sounds very hopeful. What does it do?"

=> You can merge VE projects into VE PRO, this will add your Vienna Instruments of the merged project to your VE Pro project.

"How is the timing latency with plugs like Omnisphere and RMX that require tempo information from the master computer's DAW?"
=> This works fine with the slave mode host tempo synchronization. Latency only plays a role when playing live, the latency compensation takes care of recorded MIDI.

"I
look forward to seeing your new interface. I’m glad you’re taking the
opportunity to maximize your new friends by offering the sample package.

How about a picture of the new interface?"

=> We´re still finetuning here - pictures and videos are already in preparation and will be online asap.

Best,

Paul

'Excited' ? Yes, but the longer they take to release some info. or the actual thing, the excitement is turning into an 'Irritation' caused by the extended waiting time for VE-Pro to be released.

Yes, what the heck is the Epic Orchestra and how much will it cost for those who bought the VE3 after VSL announced that the PRO will be a free upgrade?

Will it also work on PPC machines with Leopard, or it will be Intel-only?

The libraries in 'epic orchestra' are some of VSL's best.  Looks like a very good deal.

Hi Paul,

Cm mentioned in June that PPC would be supported for the host (obviously the slave is a different matter)

http://community.vsl.co.at/forums/p/21776/149346.aspx#149346

What changed? Would be a serious blow if couldn't have the host PPC ( i have a PC i7 slave) using VE3 currently...... (i know the PPC is dead.....but bought ve3 thinking an upgrade to ve pro would run on PPC)

Cheers

Paul

Hi again,

as I said, this is what it looks like at the moment. We are still working on it, so it might as well change. I understand your concern, let´s see if we can tackle this - it´s really a development decision.

Best,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. I've always used Logic but couldn't face the current price tags for a New Macpro. (Hence the PC i7). Would be interest to see how many other people currently use PPC as hosts for VE3.......anyone else out there??......

Thanks for the info, Paul !

Sure , meanwhile PPC is a dinosaur . But it is also  a rock-solid system for quite a lot producers out there ,

still working with their PT7 & Logic 7 setup .

It would be great if VSL could release at least one VE Pro-Host version for PPC ,

even if this version won't get any major update in the future .

Thanks in advance

Best

Gerd

I tottaly agree.

But i wonder how big this library is, how many GB? Would it be possible for VSL to answer that?

Thank you.

The Epic Orchestra pack looks like mostly previously released samples, except "Woodwinds Ensemble".  I've never seen that before....
