  • [SOLVED] Vienna & Logic Pro (8) problem - Any idea anybody!?

Hi everyone, I'm a special edition vienna symphonic library user, mainly using it on Logic and it's been a year since I got it. It worked fine until last night, but seems like it's got a problem for some reason all of a sudden - I can't open any Logic file which has any Vienna plug-in. Logic itself works fine if that hasn't got Vienna inst. at all, and Vienna works fine if it is on standalone mode. I have no idea what to do, I haven't installed or done anything wrong to my computer honestly, and it really upsets me - because I can't work at all right now. Thing is, I got the exactly same problem like half a year ago, and at that time I managed to solve the problem by downloading & installing the latest version of Vienna software. I tried the same thing just now, but it didn't work this time. I also uninstalled Vienna & re-installed it again, but the situation is same. I sent an email to the support center, but it's the weekend and I'm not sure if they will get back to me soon too. So, if anyone got the same problem and managed to solve the problem before, or lately, please give me some advice and I will try to fix it. (I seriously need to fix it asap for my work!) I appreciate your help in advance, thanks so much! FYI - my computer is Mac OS X (Version 10.5.8).

  • the usual shot (especially if you have recently updated something) - please reboot and repair permissions on your system volume using disk utility.

also please double check if the VI/VE AU plugin in logic is still validated (AU manager), in case not try to validate manually.

  • I've had this few times. And for no real reason. ( I also hadn't changed or install anything new)

Usually a few shut downs and restarts have solved the problem.

Other things, apart from permissions cm mentioned, is to check that the dongle is being read ok. Reinsert/ change usb port etc

Does the standalone work fine?...scans licences OK etc? In LCC as well? If so, then try launching a standalone first and then your logic project.

You could also try launching Logic without Core audio. Hold CTRL key on startup. This launches logic without plugins. You can then save the file without VI/VE, reload it and try and add VI/VE again. (Not a long term solution but may allow you to finish your project)

    Hope some of this helps.

  • Thank you so much, both of you, I did shut down and restart several time, checked the LCC, changed the dongle port etc etc.. I'm not sure which one has worked, but now my Vienna is working again on Logic!! Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.

  • I'm having the same problem. Is there an update for this problem?

  • did you already follow the advices from above? could you please refine the term *same problem*?
