  • Slide Trombone in Special Edition?

I'm trying to find a slide trombone in Special Edition or do I need to create it? If so, any guidance on how? Also, are plucked strings not available in Special Edition 1? Thanks.

  • there are pizzicati in the SE yet no glissandi on the trombone. the only option you have is the pitchbend, but that only gives you a wholetone max.

  • Thanks for the info. I tried the pitch but I couldn,t get it to sound natural so I scraped the idea

You can customize how large a pitchbend you want in the VI player, so you are not limited to a wholetone max. Of course it starts to sound really fake, as the original poster pointed out.

I haven't checked my sample list for SE, but I own Opus 1+2 and it indeed has trombone glisses. Perhaps they are now only available in SE plus?

  • well, i don´t know about your VI-interface, but mine only allows a range of 200cents max. or have i missed an update that allows for that? one possible workaround to increase the PB-range though to a glissando a major third though is to play a note a wholetone up from the desired starting point and at the same time detune by a wholetone and then move the PB-fader all the way up. as already stated, this will sound rather cheesy... as for the availability of trombone glissandi in SE+: no, unfortunately not.

  • Have a look at the Patch Assign page - there are trombone glisses there, you can add to a matrix yourself.
