I'm so close to having VE3 running on my slaved 2nd Mac.  According to the VE3_Introduction.mov, at about 1;44, it says that when you click "connect" VE3 will open up on your slave computer.  So I'm looking at my slave Mac via the remote window, and I do see the Vienna Ensemble Server v3.0 build 3452 window there, showing an "Active Instance" -- but no VE3 window on the slave. I do have the Vienna key plugged in, the directory manager was run on that system, and the VE components are installed on there.

Am I missing a step?

Have you double clicked the active instance notification in the VE server?

Yeah, I did try that (double-clicking on the IP #) but no dice... nothing happened.

Problem solved!   Marnix is a genius at this stuff.

The VE3 interface WAS launching, but because my slave had initially had 2 monitors connected to it, the interface was launching into the 2nd (now "ghost) monitor.  So I had to reconnect both monitors to the slave, move the interface to the main monitor, and now all's in its proper place.

Who woulda thunk it?

i remember there was at least under 10.4 an option in display preferences *mirror screens* or similar wording which saved my life on a similar occasion and brought back all windows to my attached monitor ...

and remember: a CRAY is the only computer that runs an endless loop in just four hours ...

I didn't think of trying that... good idea.  I did open up the monitor options in System Preferences (slave is 10.4.11), hoping to see both monitors still laid out in there, but it only showed 1 monitor (none were actually attached).     But the fact that the VE3 window could be hiding in the non-existent second monitor of the slave? That one stumped me.  Marnix should try looking for the holy grail, because chances are he'd find it.

Thanks guys!
