  • new e-licenser

    hi everyone.

is the new e-licenser working just as fine for you guys? any trouble regarding the switch from syncrosoft?

  • works fine and i'm under the impression eLC (eLicenser Control) is faster scanning licenses ...

please note: eLC 6.x does not support OS X 10.4 currently

  • eLicenser 6.0.1.8 causes an instant crash on my Mac Pro as soon as it finds any dongles.  This is on an early 2008 2.8 GHz 8 core running OS 10.6.1

    Jon

  • Same for me.  It just won't start.  OS X 10.6.1, Mac Pro 2.66

  • Same problem here on my MacPro OS X 10.6.1 :-( Jürgen

  • Working OK on Snow Leopard 10.6.1.

Have you tried deleting the plist file?

    "Home"/Library/Preferences/com.Syncrosoft.LCC.plist

    Hope this helps.

    Richard

  • The same problem here....

Mac Pro 8 core (early 2008) OS 10.6.1

Yes, I've tried this, but the eLicenser Control Center crashes when I launch it and the USB eLicenser Key is connected. If the USB eLicenser is not connected, then the eLicenser Control Center doesn't crash at launch.

  • It looks like deleting everything related to Syncrosoft, LCC, or eLicenser does the trick.  6.0.1.8 is now working with 10.6.1 on my Mac Pro.  I deleted the app, everything in Application support, anything in both user and system logs, anything in receipts, including all related entries in the InstallHistory.plist (and then saved the file), and the plist file in user prefs (Thanks, Richard).  It then installed OK and is working fine.

    Jon

  • Thanks Jon.

    Glad you got it working.

I'll keep your list of files, in case I have problems in the future.

I've tried this, following your instructions, but the problem persists on my MacBook Pro, eLicenser Control Center and my USB Key.

Please, can you describe more precisely every folder and file you've deleted, step by step? Do you restarted your Mac before reinstall eLicenser Control Center? Thanks!

  • same for me....app crashes when dongle is inserted....tried everything....now way out

  • Hi all,

It seems that the current eLCC version (6.0.1.8) has a bug which appears on OS X 10.6 only. It seems that a specific combination of licenses on the key causes the eLCC to crash.
eLicenser is already working on a bugfix, a new version of eLCC should be available on the eLicenser website soon:

  • Hi all!

I already reported 2 different problems with eLC 6.0.1.8 in combination with Snow Leopard (OS 10.6) to Steinberg and they are currently investigating the problem in order to find a solution

My suggestion for a temporary solution is to remove eLC and to downgrade to LCC version 5.4.18.9, which can be downloaded from here:

    http://www.elicenser.net/en/download_archives.html

BEFORE you can install LCC it is necessary to remove eLC. To do this you can use a Unix command in Terminal (to be found in .../utilities). Paste the following command into your Terminal window:

    sudo rm -f/var/db/receipts/com.eLicenser.*

It will ask for your administrators password, please type it in and press "Enter". Now you can install LCC.

    /Regards,

    Maya

  • I´d like to add that you cannot run the 64 bit server with LCC 5.4.18.9 and I cannot promise that 5.4.18.9 will work flawlessly in OS 10.6.

    /Regards,

  • I ran the sudo command and am still not allowed to install the previous LCC.

  • Any help on this? It is one thing for new elicense software not to work. That is understandable. But for it to make it impossible to revert to a previous version, and thus to prevent users from licensing new products, such as the new VE Pro which I have waited so long for, only to discover that now that I have it I cannot use it, is really frustrating. This license company has a very bad history with macintosh, they provide no help or contact info on their website, no uninstaller, no forum, no links, no troublshooting, no meaningful documentation. I understand that they are not VSL, but I am forced to deal with them to use VSL software. They are a company that I would write off in a moment if I had the choice.

Now that my rant is over, I still desperately need to uninstall the Elicenser, and Maya's sudo command did not do the trick for me. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Michael

  • +1, I'm up the creek until I can get the elicenser working!

  • We are in contact with eLicenser/Steinberg. As soon as I have found a way to remove eLC reliably I will let you know.

    /Regards,

    Maya

  • Hi,

just wanted to let everybody know that Maya and the team is doing their very best to get this solved quickly, together with eLicenser (formerly Syncrosoft).

I know it´s hard to wait for VE PRO when it´s so close, but hang in there!

    Best,
