    I don't use VE Pro (yet!), and I'm still gathering information about it: if I use VE Pro on my main host computer will it allow me to access more of my computer's memory, that is to say more than the 3.5Gb available to me in Logic 8 ?

    Hello Nicholas, and welcome [:)]

    You can indeed utilize all the RAM you have available with VE PRO, if you are using 64-bit virtual instruments like our own Vienna Instruments, Kontakt 3.5/4 or Omnisphere.

    With 32-bit instruments, the "old" limit still applies.

    I´d say: Check out VE PRO with a free demo license. All you need in addition is a USB eLicenser like the ViennaKey or a Steinberg Key, to store your license on.

    Is it 4 GB (old limit) for the 32-Bit server service app or 4 GB for each VEPro instance running on the 32Bit server service app?

    32-bit (4GB) is the limit for the server app, regardless of the number of instances you use. Thus, you could run one 4GB instance or 4x1GB instances.

    Is the demo version 32bit only ? I get a message - "File Synsoacc.bundle not in Application Support Folder" when I try to launch the 64bit version………could be just me of course.

    You will also nee the latest eLicenser installed to be able to run in 64-bit.

    Ok, quick update - I'm now running 10.5.8 and I still can't get the 64bit version of the demo to run - "Syncrosoft POS Error Message - File Synsoacc.bundle could not be located in the Application support folder."

    Any ideas anyone ?

    I find this peculiar. Why are instances not each run in their own process? It's possible to have IAC coding to make this function. I'm hitting the 32-bit memory limit in VE Pro very early now and there's no way to run more than one VE Pro 32-bit server. (And the ceiling is more like 2GB. Anywhere from 2.5-3 is where it crashes.)

    This is a real pain on the Mac. On the PC it's no problem because of the advent of the jBridge wrapper - I can fill 8GB RAM no sweat.

    There is a known issue with the latest eLicenser and 64 bit Macs (don't recall the full details, as I am not a Mac user). VSL has been testing the new eLicenser code, and eLicenser will be releasing a new driver for Macs very soon (possibly even sometime today IIRC).

    Okay Paul and others,please help me understand how to get access to all of my ram. I don't mean to be stupid,but I am still a bit confused. First off,I have finally been able to "connect" Cubase5 32bit to VE PRO 32 bit. I have a pc with 8gigs of ram,so,IF I run C5 does VE Pro run outside of C5? If so,then I can access the 3-3.5 gigs from Cubase and then will VE Pro 32 bit have access to the other approx 4 gigs on my system?(I am on Vista 64). The thing that seems silly/confusing to me is the comment that you made about using 64 bit vsti's such as Kontakt 3.5/4 and others b/c couldn't you just run these natively in C5 64 bit? Why would we need a synced server to achieve this goal? I obviously have many 32 bit fx plugs,as most of us do,so it would be nice to be able to use the setup that I just mentioned,IF VE PRO has it's own 4 gig access.

    So,what combination should I use to access most or all of my ram?:

    C5 32 bit with VE Pro 32 bit,

    C5 64 bit with VE Pro 32 bit,

    C5 64 bit with VE Pro 64 bit(this one seems to be the least likely since VE Pro will only recognize 64 bit plugs),

    or perhaps some other combination that I am completely missing.
