  • Question about upcoming virtual MIDI.

Is there a recommendation for using virtual MIDI in the upcoming VE Pro release; IAC, MOL, something else? Thanks.

  • You may use whatever MIDI solution you prefer. IAC, MOL, ipMIDI, loopBE....

  • Martin (or anyone),

I am setting up my MIR demo and I see IPMIDI is only 79 dollars american compared to 169 dollars for Midi Over Lan CP.  Do you have an opinion or preference as to why MOL might be better then IPMIDI or will IPMIDI it accomplish the exact same thing for half the money?  Sorry only midi over lan I have ever done was VE3 and Pro.

    Thanks!

  • MIDIoverLAN has the capability to run more ports than ipMIDI, last I checked. But of course you need to buy the more expensive license to get more ports.

  • So for each "port" do we get 16 "channels"?  I am imagining the way VE Pro works (VE3) and you get the one network port but when you do a 16 channel multi-instrument, you change each to its own channel.

If so then the amount of ports IPMidi has would be enough because it would be 16 midi channels per 1 port multiplied by the 20 ports it offers (20 ports x 16 midi channels).

  • Well I read both manuals and it does in fact give 16 channels per port.  Only problem I had was ipMIDI didn't work and screwed up my audio settings etc on my Windows 7 machine.  Uninstalled it and tried the MOL demo and it is working great.  Now to test this MIR.  What a beast it is (resource wise).
