  • Cubase SX 2.2.0 and VE Pro not possible?

    Hi,

I'm trying to run Cubase SX 2.2.0 with VE Pro. I know it's a very old version of Cubase, but it has worked fine with VE 3 so I figured, it should work.

    • Started up the VE Pro Server - check
    • Created a VST Instrument - check.
    • Clicked on 'Connect' and had it create a new local instance -  a new VE Window appears, with one instrument. 16 new Input channels are available in my Cubase mixer. Great! So far so good.
    • I load a random patch in the first instrument slot. The slot is configured to respond to all Midi In (Omni) and Channel 1.
    • I create a Midi track in Cubase, set Midi Input to my hardware Midi input port, and Midi Output to Vienna Ensemble Pro, Channel 1.

Now here is the problem: if I use the mouse to play on the virtual keyboard in the VE Window, I hear the sound. But if I play the keyboard, or create a Midi part on the created Midi track with notes in it, no sound.

Since not even the grean Midi indicator (in the circle in the VE Window) lights up, I guess there is a Midi routing problem, but I can't figure out what. If I do exactly the same with VE 3 (still on the PC) everything is fine.

    Any thoughts anyone?

    Thanks,
    Vincent

  • So I guess nobody  knows?

(Hmm, maybe it's time for upgrading my Cubase license...)

  • I would imagine that you don't have the monitor button clicked on your MIDI track. However, as you are using such a dinosaur version of Cubase, I can't really remember that far back. [;)]
