  • 64-bit Metaframe Load Work-Around

For those of you that are using only 64-bit, the following may be of some interest.....

My goal was to load up the entire orchestra (most commonly used articulations) in a single instance of VE-PRO with matching Cubase VST Expression Maps as my template to use from composition to composition.  With the advent of the metafile, placing the VE-PRO metafile template name in the Login Items on the MacPro OS allows one to turn on the computer and 15 minutes or so later, the entire orchestra is loaded for the remaining day's session.

The problem I experienced after the last release was that the metafile was loading the 32-bit server instead of the 64-bit server thereby preventing me from having access to all the memory on the MacPro.  My understanding is that this issue will be fixed in the next maintenance release.

Until then, I've found if I create a folder with in the Vienna Ensemble Pro Applications folder (name it what you want) and place both the Vienna Ensemble Pro and the Vienna Ensemble Pro Server file in that folder, essentially out of site, when the metafile is loaded, the 64-bit server will be active.  This solution is only good if you plan on using the 64-bit server ONLY.

Paul, you may or may not want to endorse this approach.  For me, it works great.......

  • the easier way:

just right click on your template file and change "open with" settings.
