  • newbie question concerning velocity crossfade

Hello there, experienced VSL users. Recently I got SE Woodwinds and now create a piece with flute and clarinet. On one long note I use the velocity crossfade. I have understood how to turn it on, use it, and to turn it off. And here is the problem: After I have used it, the instruments have a much smaller volume level than before, no matter how high I set the 'regular' note velocity. While using velocity crossfade the final level of the slider is zero, but I thought when I turn it off, this level would not have any influence on the following notes. Am I wrong? Can somebody help me with that? Thanks in advance Jochen

  • Some things you want to take a look at are:  what value is the Expression fader at as this controls volume too; what value is the master volume controller which is located to the left of the keyboard oppisite the Pitch bend.  If you are using VE look in the bus view and see where the instrument volume is at.

Also, take a look at your sequencer's MIDI events.  Did you record the track when you were using the VELXFADE.  If so, then the sequencer might actually be controlling the volume.

  • Ok, I got it. Raising the velocity slider up to the top before turning off velocity crossfade does the trick. Thanks for your advice anyway.
