  • VE Pro and multi PC setup - multiple vienna keys needed?

I am contemplating purchasing VE Pro and run a 3 computer setup with one Mac and two pcs.  Would I need a Vienna Key for each computer running the software?  Or would VE "see" the single key through the Ethernet network?  Thanks!

  • You would need a key for the each of the slave machines. If you want to open VE Pro on the master computer, you would also need a key for that as well.

FWIW it doesn't need to be a Vienna key; a generic Syncrosoft dongle is just as good, and possible a lot cheaper. [;)]

  • On a single licence you can run a host and three slaves as the host doesn't need a key.

What do you mean by that? A Ve-Pro host doesn't need the key? I must say, I would also vote for a sollution to implement the licensing within a local network. I plan buying a dedicated mir-slave an it would be great to have all VI available on the sample slave running ve-pro as well. It's a bit of a pain in the ass to have to switch dongles ...

  • Correct - the host doesn't need a key.  I don't mind dongles
