Here is a collection of bugs i experienced with build 4686. I have had some of these in earlier versions.

- VE Pro stops responding. Already reported earlier, though my description might have been misleading. What happens is, that the 32-bit interface and all its instances stop responding. No sound. Spinning beach ball. After a while it works fine again. Now, the longer i work on a project, the longer the non responsive periods get. At first it's only about a second. After two hours or so it's up to twenty seconds. In my 32-bit instances i have mainly Kontakt 3.5 instruments and a few VSL instruments loaded. So there might be a connection to Kontakt.

- Hanging notes. Affects VSL instruments as well as others. Seldomly after CPU spikes, and nearly always after the dropouts reported above.

- Kontakt gui isn't drawn. Sometimes all Kontakt instances just give me a white screen instead of the gui. It responds to midi just fine, but i can't change or check any settings.

- Can't minimize instance windows. Sometimes the minimize button will be grayed out. Double clicking the title bar won't minimize the window either. This bug might be connected to the previous one. I think, they always happen both or neither.

- Missing Mouse cursor after using Altiverb. When using the IR Waterfall window in Altiverb (hosted by VE Pro), the mouse cursor will only appear above the waterfall window, nowhere else. Even outside the VE Pro window. To get it back, i have to click on another application window or the desktop. As soon as i get back to any of the VE Pro instances hosted by the same server, the mouse cursor is gone again. If i close Altiverb, minimize the VE Pro window and click somewhere else, the mouse cursor stays until i get back to the waterfall view.

The white screen of plugins, not only Kontakt here, I can confirm that as intermittent. I can not reproduce this and provide a procedure to test, but it happened four times now. OSX 10.5.8, Logic 9.02.

I´ll look into this ASAP. Thanks for reporting.

Kind regards,

VE3 save project bug

When working in a previously saved project, VE3 sometimes does not remember that it was previously saved and asks you to navigate to original file. It is very easy to save over wrong one.

best,

SvK

I once thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken.

I'm afraid I don't follow the question. Could you elaborate?

Also, is this VE3 or VE Pro? VE Pro replaces VE3, so VE3 will not be developed any further.

In VE Pro, I get the same thing; a 'save' operation is usually 'save as' instead, on my system. I get irritated at having to remember what the thing is called specifically vs typing something anew and getting a clutter of redundant projects saved, one more thing to manage... Of course the one time out of then I expect 'save' to behave same as 'save as', it saves over that, older version now, making that dependent on preserved instance in the Cubase project. ;)

This build, OSX.6.2, Cubase 5.01, Mac Pro Nehalem 8 core, 24GB:

Recently, I got to where there were long waits for VEP to respond, and many dropouts if playback, practically impossible to edit/record midi. I believe there developed some corruption of key components of the software (I pushed it hard while it was working, and my machine got hot). I installed the current public beta and now get no midi over the network, just nothing happening; but the incredible slowness - NB: not hangs - in all GUI reponse, which has occurred also, appears to have abated, but there appears to be nothing happening via the network now. Any plugin in Cubase receives midi no problem on the master computer. 'Network' in system preferences tells me nothing on either machine about no network, or anything I can use.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, we'll see...
