When using VEPro on host..is it better to use many or few? Let me ask it a different way. Since there is a limitation to 16 channels of midi per VEPr MAC instance, I'm forced to "break out" my synths AU's on to a seperate VE Pro instance. Does that eat waaayyyy more CPU? Or is it fine? This will make a total of 5 VE Pros on the host machine. SvK
I once thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken. MacPro 2x3Ghz Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 16 Gig RAM, 10.6.2, Metric Halo 2882, Logic 9

Hi SvK, just to avoid misunderstandings. The limitation to just 1 port with 16 MIDI channels is not a MAC limitation, it is an AU limitation. svonkampen wrote: I'm forced to "break out" my synths AU's on to a seperate VE Pro instance. Will be a problem at some point, on my MacPro and on some PC's. And even if we're not pushing the limits, the question is still interesting. PLAY for example is generally considered, on mac at least, more efficient at running many instances containing one patch each than one instance containing multiple patches. I definitely want to know best practices here if anyone has the answer.

And is there an instance limit? I'm finding that a sixth one causes things to hang, but it might be happenstance.

Hi Brianmcbrearty,
Each VE Pro Server is limited to 32 instances of VE Pro as of today.
