  • VEPro + Enthernet connection

Hello, I have problem with virtual control of second (slave) computer with Vienna Ensemble Pro instaled. I use Remote Desktop of WinXP, and have no problem to execute and control any other music apps despite eLicenser (newest version, and working license on the attached Vienna Key) and VEPro (epic library installed). The application starts, and after checking the license there is no other reaction ( however the task is present in task menager of remote computer). The same is with eLicenser. No response after start. Any cues to solve the problem? Pablo

  • not sure now about the underlying problem - that's how it looks here after launching everything (VE PRO Server) over remote desktop - now it is sitting there waiting for a host to connect ...

  • Hi Cristian, It looks that Vienna Key works fine (when I unpluged it, VEPro "shouts" there is no license) but IF I start mentioned two applications on main computer, it looks as on your screen, IF I start the same apps on remote machine, VEPro starts, looking the license and content files, SYNSOPOS.exe and vsldaemon.exe are present in task manager AND Vienna Ensemble Pro.exe as well...for a moment - next it disappears. The same with eLCC.exe. It starts and disappears for a moment in task manager. Pablo

  • just for security an additional question: what processor model is sitting in your remote computer?

also if you go to system administration - event logs - application or system, is there any related entry which could point us to the right direction?

  • I use AMD Barton CPU, and there is no warnings in event logs - nor application nor system ones, after executing the application. I have a feeling that something could be wrong with license confirmation - the system closes the application just after veryfiing it on the vienna key, HOWEVER using the same key in the master computer provides to right results. Everything works fine. BTW what USB driver should be used with Vienna Key?

  • well, it took me a while to find out it is AMD (XP) Barton, which does not support SSE2 - so unfortunately i have to tell you VE PRO will not work with this processor type.

the next VE PRO version will contain a respective error message.

  • At the requirements site for VEPro there is no indication about it: "PC Intel/AMD with Windows XP 32 bit..." Is it the reason that eLicenser does not work as well?

  • well, we also didn't add *intel P IV or better* to prevent someone trying to run it on a P II or so ...

honestly, we don't even have systems with such CPUs running since quite a while so unfortunately i can't comment on the eLicenser for the moment.

  • we double checked the eLicenser application (thanks to david) on an Athlon XP - works flawlessly.

however we're currently discussing if to remove the SSE2 calls from the software or change the system requirements.
