  • VE Pro over LAN

All seems to work correctly. ------ Am I correct that on the DAW computer running the plugin, we will not be able to see the actual interface of a VSTi when connected to a VE Pro server. ----- The VSTi's interface appears on the server machine inside VE Pro exactly as one would expect and audio/midi work very well from the DAW machine . It is simply the question of seeing the interface of the instrument that I am questioning. ------ Using remote desktop is a solution but hardly an elegant one as it increases the networking overhead. ----- Many thanks -- Alan

  • Hi and welcome Alan,

yes, thatĀ“s correct, the VE PRO GUI opens on your slave machineĀ“s display.

    Best,

  • Thank you Paul.---------------------- Am I unusual (or missing the point) when I say that this is rather limiting? We can now connect the main Mac Pros to a PC server which is running some plugins we don't have for Mac. However we can't see the interface of the plugins.------------------ Presumably, you are expecting the slave machine (VE Pro servers) to have a screen/monitor next to the screen of the machine running the DAW? Is that correct? Alan-------------------- PS How does the slave machine determine the host name of the machine connected to it? (the host name it displays in the title bar)

  • Hi,

yes, most of our users use a second screen, or screensharing - this will also help to keep your main screen cleaned up. Showing the GUI on the same computer requires to run even more information over network and is not implemented (yet).

Computer names are determined in the network settings of each machine.

    Best,

    Paul
