  • Can I run VE Pro 64-bit server, serving a VE Pro 32-bit client?

I have Sibelius (a 32-bit application) running on one machine, with two slaves - both currently 32-bit.  One of them is running a couple of instances of VE Pro, hosting Gigastudio GVI, which is of course (and will forever be) 32-bit.

But the other slave is hosting a number of instances of VE Pro, all loaded to the gills with VSL instruments.  This machine is straining at the 4Gb memory limit, and I would love to upgrade it to 64-bit Windows 7 and give it a huge amount of memory.

So the question is: would this work with my 32-bit Sibelius host, running 32-bit VE Pro client VSTis?  Or does the entire chain of VE Pro clients and servers have to have the same number of bits?!

  • You can have both 32bit and 64bit slaves all connected to either a 32bit or 64bit host. You can even have both on the same slave using both servers. The only thing you can't do is load 32bit plugs in a 64bit server, and vice versa, although you can actually get round this using J-Bridge, if you like.
