  • E-Licenser - Vienna Pro Question!

Hello. Can someone please answer this for me.

I have a e-licenser dongle with all my licenses on it including the VSL license, my Cubase license, etc. Now I just bought a new slave PC so for the first time I will be sync'ing two PC's of mine with VE PRO. I have just downloaded the demo of VE PRO and intend on purchasing it if everything works properly. However my question is, how do I go about the whole license thing. I have only one dongle and it needs to be on my main computer so that cubase and VSL can start up properly, but as I take it, the slave PC also needs a dongle with a license in order so that VE PRO can start up as well. Is this correct?

Actually I do have another dongle of some sort, I'm not sure what it is and whether it came with one of the programs (perhaps that one came with Cubase long ago and my current one came with VSL?). But when I start up license control center, it does not see the other Dongle when it is plugged in. Is there any way for it to be recognized or do I have to buy some sort of special dongle from whoever supplies VSL with them (I can't remember..was it ILIO?)

    thanks

    HI requiem_aeternam,

you are right about the second key on you slave computer, and you can also use your Steinberg key, no problem. If it is not recognized by the eLCC, it is probably a different key (maybe an iLok key?).

You can order a ViennaKey right here. You can also purchase a Steinberg key in any music store. And our Authorized Dealers should all have ViennaKeys in stock.

    Best,

    Paul

  • Thanks for your response Paul I asked on vi-control and someone said that the old steinberg dongles often don't work anymore so I went to guitar center and bought a new one and now everything works. Love VE PRO so far and am going to purchase it as soon as you guys help me figure out one last kink.

I have been using it so far to sync my computers and run 3rd party stuff like symphobia etc, everything is working fine so far. But one question is, how do I make my VSL SE library open up in VE PRO on the slave computer? I already installed the VSL SE discs onto the slave, but now how do I get it to open when I open a vienna instruments or vienna ensemble window inside VE PRO there is nothing to choose from (i.e. no instrument folders/patches). Also how do I copy my license from my main dongle (that's on my host PC) onto the dongle that is on the slave (the new dongle) that now has my VE PRO license so that VSL SE can open up on the slave?

    Thanks

    Hi,

you need to assign your sample content in the Directory Manager on the given computer, so that VE PRO "knows" where to look for the samples.

Please check out this video about the Directory Manager, it´s easy.

You cannot "copy" licenses, but you can transfer them.

Please make sure that you are using the latest eLCC, connect 2 keys and drag the license from one key to the other. You need to be connected to the internet to do so.

    Best,

    Paul

  • Hi thanks a lot for the help Paul. I will check the video in the morning.

About the licenses, how many computers can I have VSL SE installed on at the same time? I thought it was 2 or 3 or are you saying it's only 1?

You can install SE on as many computers as you like. However, you can only use one at a time, due to the fact you only have one licence.
