A while ago there was some discussion of VSL strings in general.  Here is an example of all the VSL strings on Bach,  Komm Suesser Tod, arranged first for Solo Strings, then Chamber, then Orchestral/Appassionata, then all of them together.

Hi William,

You definitely have earned the tile of 'STRING GOD'....  Very nice, well mixed and very emotional.  I felt that I was in the Michigan Theater listening to the Ann Arbor Symphony....  Very Nice.

thanks for those comments.

The VSL strings seem endess in the number of possibilities of expression.  On this piece I used a lot of changing dynamic samples on the solos.  However, the Appassionata/orchestral are simple to use with velocity crossfade on just the legato 4-velocity instruments giving a huge amount of variation instantly.

This arrangement was based on my faulty memory of a Leopold Stokowski performance that I cannot find any longer on CD - he arranged this for woodwinds and strings, and had a lot of tempo/dynamic variations that sounded insanely molto espressivo.

Great job Wiiliam!  Very refined mix, the balance of the parts is A+.

Thanks a lot!  - this piece was interesting and fun to do because if you look at the original Bach score, it is SATB on one page, just four parts.  But it is music that has lasted for centuries and will probably last as long as anything humans do.  To apply the beautiful VSL strings to it is wonderful to work on.  Also, this piece was a melody that Martin Luther did a very bad harmonzation of, and Bach took it and made it absolutely perfect.
