Hi, I've downloaded the demo for VE pro and I can open it in stand alone but not in Cubase 5 or Sonar 8. I follow these instructions but never get the local host 127message. (double-click 127.0.0.1 localhost (New)) Of course this is the easiest way to use Vienna Ensemble PRO as a plug-inSingle-Computer Setup
Vienna Ensemble PRO . Make sure your ViennaKey with the Vienna Ensemble PRO
Vienna Ensemble PRO Server
Vienna Ensemble PRO
as a plug-in in your sequencer. Click Connect in the Server Interface and doubleclick 127.0.0.1 localhost (New) – a Vienna Ensemble PRO
interface will instantly open up.
(32-bit or 64-bit) and instantiate
Windows 7(64), 8 gigs ram, 3.20 ghz. Want to run with Cubase & Sonar 32 bit
Thanks,Tony

Did you start the server before Sonar? Have you checked "Advertise on Local Network" in the Server Preferences? DG

DG, by server do you mean VE Pro. What I did was open Cubase and went to my Virtual instruments rack and clicked on Vienna Ensemble pro which there were 2 of and thenI clicked on the available one . I never saw Advertise on Local Network. Thankks, Tony

OK, so assuming that you've installed VEP correctly, you need to do this:
- Run the server (either 32bit, 64bit or both)
- Click Preferences
- Check the box for "advertise on local network"
- Open Cubase
- Load VEP in the VST rack
- You should then get a dialogue asking which server you want to connect to (32bit, or 64bit). They will both have your local IP address.
- Click on the one that you want and then Connect.
- The VEP GUI should then appear.

DG DG, Nothing. When I click on preferences it just gives me audio-midi etc. Nothing says "advertise on local network". I uninstalled, I'll try it one more time then I'm done, thanks for your help though.

Hello Tony, then you must be starting the Vienna Ensemble PRO Standalone instead of the VE PRO Server!! Best, Paul

It's on the "General" tab, if that helps. DG

Guys, There is no "General Tab". I tried to print screen but can't attach it here. In the VE Pro folder it has Directory Manager Library Installer uninstall.dat unisntall 000 Vienna Ensemble Pro X64 Vienna Ensemble Pro vlsdameon Thant's it. Whenb I open in cubase it gives the server window only. I hit connect than it promps to connet to another computer. I have not been able to find anything that says "adertise on local network" or General tab. How do you start just the server in stand alone? Thanks

Uhhhh! Now I have a real problem. I put this download trial of Jbridge in to try to make VE work and it didn't so I erased it (from control panel) and now Stylus won't open up and all the programs have this can't find proxy.dll junk and I've erased everything I could find with jbridge but it keeps crashing cubase and in plug-in properties it still reads it as being there..

Tony

That should be easy to fix. Remove the J-Bridge altered .dll text files. Replace them with the original .dll (before you removed them, assuming that you did). Make sure that you re-scan the plugins in your VST folder via the Plugin menu in Cubase. DG

- Click Start
- Click All Programs
- Click Vienna Ensemble Pro folder
- Click Vienna Ensemble Pro Server
DG, thanks, that did it. I was looking in the VEP folder in the C drive, the pro server was in the main user 1077 files. Seems like it will work now, got the 127 message and it opened in cubase. Thanks Again
Best Regards,
Tony
