  • Vienna Suite User Interface Logic 9.1.1 CPU Problem

Hi, unfortunately I have almost wasted all Vienna Suite Demo Program Starts within one Day to track down my CPU Problem. I have not gotten anywhere. After 10 min of normal plugin usage (opening and closing the PlugIns UI normally) I have contantly spinning fans at 6000 rpm because of the CPU problem. . Logic is appearently not releasing the UI of the Vienna Suite PlugIns (same behaviour with VEP) when closing it. After closing the UI, something still sits in the Background causing nasty standing CPU numbers. I have also tested the VST 3 Version in Cubase 5.1.1 on the same system. No problems here. "Releasing" works just fine and the CPU stays down. My main setup: ---------------------------------------------------- MacBook Pro Modell-Identifizierung: MacBookPro2,1 Prozessortyp: Intel Core 2 Duo Prozessorgeschwindigkeit: 2,33 GHz Anzahl der Prozessoren: 1 Gesamtzahl der Kerne: 2 L2-Cache: 4 MB Speicher: 3 GB Busgeschwindigkeit: 667 MHz Logic 9.1.1 64bit Snow Leopard (clean system)10.6.3 FF800 ---------------------------------------------------- . I have prepared a short Dekstop Quicktime recording of the problem for download and better imagination: . www.vibraimage.eu/A_Temp/VSL_Logic_CPU_Problem.zip. Please tell me if this problem occurs with your Macs too or how to possilby solve it. In the meantime I would like to enjoy the Plugins Demo on my working Cubase system. Is there any possibility to add some new Program Starts ? , since I have not really been working and listening to these plugins due to Logics crazy FANS .... Thanks, Cheers, nostaller PS: How do you do a blank Paragraph Area without typing "P.P" ?

  • Dear nostaller,

I´ll have a new Vienna Suite demo sent to you and one of our developers will look into the problem you encountered.

    Best regards.

    Maya

  • This is Logic Pro behavior. It will not actually close a project until you start/load a new one or close Logic entirely. So closing the project from the Logic Pro menu will only close the project visually.

  • thanks for the extended Demo opportunity ...

  • Ok, I realize there are problems with closing Logic projects... But I was really only referring to the closing of the User Interface (not the deleting of the entire Plugin from the insert slot) of a Vienna Suite plugIn. Closing the PlugIns UI will still have a remaining high demand on CPU. Just look at the uploaded video. I would appreciate any help ...... Cheers, nostaller

  • The CPU reading you see there is actually not representative. The GUI is a low priority task that will never interfere with higher priority tasks (like audio processing).

  • Ok, so is there anything one can do about it or is it "normal" behaviour on all Macs with Logic 9? ... I just came across this whole problem because of my crazy spinning fans... The weird thing is of course: a totally different behaviour with the vst 3 version in cubase 5.1.1 on my mac... Everything seems to be there in "normal" CPU numbers (without crazy fans) after closing the GUI of the plugIns. So there is certainly "something", more I can not really say since I don't know anything about programming and so on. If its not the GUI, whats the problem then? Unfortunately, if this situation remains like this, I am not really able to use those plugIns with my beloved Logic ... Cheers, nostaller

  • We will look into this. Thanks for reporting.

  • 1) Was my post of any use to detect a problem with the Au Version in Logic9? 2)Can this one be reproduced on other systems? 3) Should I be worried about my system not working properly? I like the plugIns, but I could not really use them because of the circumstances mentioned... Thanks for the help, nostaller
