  • VE Pro, Slaves not available on plugin

    Hey - i wonder if someone can help with this issue: I did a new install of VE Pro win 4.0.5436 on my DAW (Sonar) and one server: These PC's are both running Win7 x64; I started up the VE Pro server on the slave - a dialog popped up via the win7 firewall - i allowed VEPro server through the firewall; On the DAW i loaded the plugin in a new project - a dialog popped up via the win7 firewall - i allowed VEPro plugin through the firewall; On the plugin - when i click the connect button - no available slaves are listed; i can't proceed ... If i disable the firewall on both DAW and slave - still no available slaves are listed; Any idea how to resolve this? (I've checked that DAW and Slaves are able to "see" each other via the ping command - both DAW and Slaves are available over the network). Finally, when i received confirmation of my order for the VEPro demo - i was sent one license: one serial no and one activation code: How do i obtain the other two licenses? Thanks for any help in advance;

  • Guys' i forgot to add that both Plugin and Server are build 4.0.5436 - also that advertise option is checked on VE Pro server application; I hope this information helps;

  • Hi Electra,

    I assume that this has worked on the same setup before - is this correct?

    What changed, apart from the VE PRO update?

    Best,

    Paul

  • Thanks for your reply: This is the demo version of VE PRo and this is the first time i've tried it; I've got this feeling the issue is something quite simple ... I will definately buy the product once i've got the demo to work. Thanks for any help in advance;

  • Do you have a router in your network connection? These usually have a firewall as well that might have to be configured. VE Pro uses network ports 6472, 6473, 6474, 6475, 6476 and 6477.

  • Yes, there is a router which connects to the internet: router is running DCHP; From the router is a 8 port Gigabit switch - the DAW and slaves are pluged into the Gigibit switch; The IP address of the DAW is 192.168.0.3 and Slave 192.168.0.4 - these address don't change when i reboot these PCs; (From the forum people have been hinting that a may need to set static address on the DAW and Slaves - is this correct?) Win7 firewall is active on DAW and Slave - i've setup a rule to allow ports 6472-6477 through on both PCs; Previously - i allowed all ports through win& firewall - though made no difference ...) Unfortunately still can't see Slaves from plugin - also plugin won't allow be to type the IP address of a slave and connect that way ... Thanks for any help in advance;

  • You should check whether there isn't a firewall active in your router that blocks ports. Check your router manual on how to configure it.

  • Guy's i've stated that i've disabled the firewall, removed the router and set static IP addresses for master and slave PC's - still no joy; Plugin can't see and slaves running VE Pro server; Any ideas? Thanks again for any help in advance;

  • reading through your post it looks to me like:

    - you have one network card per computer, IPs are 192.168.0.3 + 192.168.0.4

    - both are connected through a gigabit switch

    - the switch is also connected to a router (providing access to the internet)

    - the router has assumably IP 192.168.0.1

    now please make sure that gateway & DNS server is set to the router's IP address (you could also use the DNS from your provider)

    in network & sharing center make sure your network is not listed as *unidentified* and of type *home or work*, otherwise network connect may be limited

    try to ping one machine from the other (start -> run ->cmd -> ENTER, ping 192.168.0.x -> ENTER where x is from the other machine)

    does sharing (folders) work?

    and remember: only a CRAY can run an endless loop in just three seconds.
  • Response for Christian - i've actually done all that you've suggested: Though there are differences; Each PC has static IP addresses from 192.168.0.10 through to 192.168.15 Router is 192.168.0.1 For testing purposes i've disabled the Win 7 firewall on each PC; DAW PC is 192.168.0.10 and slaves are 192.168.0.11 - 192.168.0.15 I can ping 192.168.0.11(Slave) from 192.168.0.10(DAW) and vice versa - no data loss etc; All sharing of folders and homegroup are work very well; I should add that these PC's are all dual boot and i have been using FX-Max Teleport in the past under win XP 32bit; I guess in indicates that the network is setup correctly I hope this info helps; I'm out of ideas; Any further suggestions?

  • Guy's - My network is fine it is the application VE PRO at fault; There are two software components – one runs on the host PC, the other on the slave PC; I checked the version numbers in there respective about dialog – they were different; Oh, this is the software that the VSL supplied on DVD .. Anyway, I download the same version from their website – installed it – and it all worked; Awesome application :0)

  • It is indeed required to have the same version of VE Pro installed on both master and slave systems. Since VE Pro 4.0.5436 there is a version check when connecting, but it will not discover slaves with an older version of VE Pro Server running.
