  • "Preserve" operational clarification

Hey I think I understand this, but just check me out:

I'm in Logic.  So if I have clicked the PRESERVE icon on the two VE Pros on my slave, and the 3 VE Pros on my main computer, then I can close/open Logic songs at will, and it will bypass the loading of all the instrument data on the VE Pros.  So If I'm working on a film score, using my VE Pro setup for that, Logic will open a cue, and that song project will access all the sounds as it should.  That part is pretty easy.

BUT if I change something on one of my VE Pros, like change a Kontakt 4 from a film percussion sample player to a Highland bagpipe sample, AND THEN SAVE the Logic song, the Logic song will save that change so the next time I open the cue I just need to either:

        1. un check the Preserve icon before opening the Logic song or

        2.  click on Load Plugin Data once the Logic song is open

I could also save a separate Vframe or Mframe of that newly changed setup, but the above would cover it, Right?  Logic is always saving all the instrument etc data for all the VE Pros whether preserved or not?

  • Yes, when decouple is not enabled, Logic will save the full viframe data with the session. When you then connect again to a preserved session, you have the choice to either discard that data or load it.
