  • VEP and Mac Book Pro

I can't seem to run the VEP Server demo on my MacBook Pro. I get this message: "You can't open the application "Vienna Ensemble Pro Server" because it is not supported on this architecture" My config: OSX 10.5.8 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 I can't find any specs anywhere that say I can't run VEP Server on this machine.

    Hello strangevector,

I see that you have requested 2 demo licenses of VE PRO - did you download the corresponding licenses to your ViennaKey / Steinberg Key?

Did you install the latest eLCC yet?

    Best,

    Paul

  • Which version of VE Pro do you have installed?

  • Thanks for your reply. I solved this and I will share what it was in case it comes up for anyone else. It seems to have had nothing to do with my machine architecture other than maybe it's not 64 bit. Btw, I have server version 4.0.5436 Some setup background: I didn't intentionally order 2 licenses and assumed that it was standard to give 2 to test networked computers. Not sure how that happened. The authorization process was very broken and it took a long time to actually get the license to load onto my steinberg dongle. I got a LOT of messages telling me that I wasn't connected to the internet, something about using the master instead of the slave, an "unrecognized format" message and finally a message telling me to restart the machine. When I did finally get a license on my stick, I suddenly had 3 that needed to have the usage period started. I deleted 2 and successfully started 1. I may have accidentally tried to launch the 64 bit vep server first, I'm not sure, but it ultimately seems as though OSX decided that both versions of the server were "not compatible with my architecture" and ultimately had them greyed out with a circle with a slash icon not letting me launch them no matter what I tried (note: the standalone always worked fine) . I ultimately deleted the whole thing and re-installed. I was then very careful to start the 32 bit server first and everything has worked flawlessly since then. Other than the authorization, I have been very impressed so far.

  • Sorry, I'm not getting any newlines for some reason.
