  • Vienna Instruments-Displaying Licenses But Not Displaying Patches

Hi Guys.  I haven't showed myself in the forums for over a year and a half.  So far VSL has served me well and has enhanced my composing projects.  I have hit a dead end however and i need a bit of help please.

I have just installed the latest software update for the VSL player,  When i launch the player, both in standalone mode and as a VST in Cubase 5, It displays the licenses i have installed on my Vienna Key, but it doesnt display the folders and patches for my libraries in the oposite window.  I use the special edition library, but for some reason, the sample player has just decided to not allow me to load any patches beacuse it says , "No patches found."  I have tried to reset the path in the directory manager, but that doesnt help.  I have also tried reinstalling the software and the library and it still doesnt find anything...

I'm using the 64-bit version of the player engine if that helps.  Ive tried to use the 32-Bit version, but that freezes and crashes.  I dont know if it may have something to do with invalid custom data folders or not, but everything is routed correctly in the directory manager.  I also wonder if its the new software update thats caused this error because before hand, everything worked perfectly fine...

If anyone can give us a helping hand then it would be most appreciated...I have some deadlines to meet for my composition projects im doing over the summer before i start university.

    Thanks

    Tim

  • Dear Tim,

please launch your Directory Manager and remove ALL content folders from Directory Manager. Then add them again by Drag & Drop, please also redefine your Custom Data folder in Directory Manager (the default path is: .../Users/Shared/VSL Custom Data).

    That should solve the problem.

    Best,

    Maya

  • Hi Maya

I just tried what you suggested, but it hasnt made any difference

im using windows vista  so my custom data folder is  in Appdata/Roaming/VSL   i dont know if thats correct for windows vista or not..

  • I am having this problem with Solo Strings Extended as well.  I will try to re-add them as suggested.

  • It is so weird that computers behave fine  as they should do then they just decide to rebel against us...its as though computers have souls and feelings :P  Il post back if i figure out how to fix this  because it may help you with your solo stringsproblem Animus.

  • Do you have your Vienna Key with all licenses connected to your computer? In case that the problems persist please send an e-mail to support and include a description of the problem.

    Best regards,

    Maya

  • I'm having this same issue, but only within Ensemble. After I installed the new version of Instrument, Ensemble is somehow using the old version. If I add an AU instance of Instrument to a track in Logic 9, it sees all of my available patches and works properly. The problem is that I like to have as many patches as possible running in Ensemble, and I cannot do that now because Ensemble is completely useless. Sometimes Ensemble fails to startup on older projects, tells me the server object could not be created, or loads up and looks correct but neglects to connect to the samples. I have cleared and re-entered the directories as suggested above, but I don't think that's the problem. I'm running Logic 9 on OSX 10.6 with an Intel MBP @ 2.4GHz and 4GB RAM.

  • Dear DJGeki,

please try to uninstall Vienna Ensemble and delete also the files "com.vsl.viennaensemble.bom" and "com.vsl.viennaensemble.plist". You´ll see these files when you choose "Go to folder" from the Mac OS menu and type in "/var/db/receipts". After doing so please repair permissions with disk utility (select your Mac OS X startup volume in the column on the left of the Disk Utility window, then click the <Repair Disk Permissions> button) and restart your Mac.

    Best,

    Maya

  • Excellent work, Maya! That did the trick. Thank you very much :) One thing to note, however, is that the files in /var/db/receipts were not there. There was one (now I assume three after my reinstallation of Ensemble), but it was for Instrument, and I left it where it was supposed to be.
