Here is my latest issue: At certain times in the score, I get these horrible pops and clicks in the playback audio, as if something is at too high a level and distorting. The only problem is that, after checking the levels in VSL Ensemble and Sibelius, nothing is peaking; I even lowered the master busses of the two Ensemble instances and lowered the main volume slider within Sibelius and the pops and clicks still persist. Any thoughts? Thanks again for your help! :)

O-kay! I figured it out, although I think it might be a bug. The bars in question had "rit." in them. After removing various articulations, etc., the pops and clicks stopped once I removed the "rit." Is this a bug? Smaller pops and clicks also happen at other tempo changes, but I can live with them since they are quick to happen.

This sounds like a performance problem. I have never heard about riatardando marks making problems. In fact I have used them quite often myself without any problems.
What are the specs of your computer?
How many instruments do you have in that particular score?
Maybe it helps raising the buffer size of your audio driver.

Hi James!
Your computer should be fast enough to also play big arrangements without problems. I am not sure where the problems come from then. Do you have any other programs running in the background. Maybe it helps to repair permissions with the tool Disk Utility.
Which audio interface are you working with? Have you tried, if the same problems occur when using the built in audio?

Are you running altiverb? That has a bug which gives pops and clicks during rits and accel. in sibelius
They are aware of it....... and have been for a while I believe
