  • Creating matrices from Downloaded Instruments

    Hello:

I've found two ways to create matrices from Downloaded Instruments with Vienna Ensemble 3 Pro:

    1. Press the Matrix Assign button, then click on an instrument in the "Download Instruments MATRIX" to open it.  You will usually find two options named something like:
      - "Clarinet Bb - all" and
      - "Clarinet Bb - legato-speed".
You then drag or double-click on either or both options to add them to the matrix panel.  (There are other ways of achieving the same end result, such as clicking Preset Select, selecting the desired instrument from "Download Instruments MATRIX" and then double-clicking it.  This creates the same two options mentioned above.)
    2. Press the Preset Select button, then click "Download Instruments VI Presets" in the patch panel.  Locate the desired instrument and double-click it.  This creates two options like:
      - "Clarinet Bb basic" and
      - "Clarinet Bb special"

Which is preferable or "correct"?  The situation is even more complex with the downloadable Bassoon 2 and Trumpet in Bb.  Using the first option listed above with Bassoon 2 you get 13 matrices to choose from, whereas the second option yields the same two "baisc" and "special" options.

Any thoughts on this topic?  Thanks in advance.
