  • Vienna ensemble/logic pro 9 set-up

I've just installed a demo of vienna ensemble which i plan to use to host VI's in Logic. I am Using a 2.8ghz Mac Pro, 8GB RAM, MOTU 896HD. LOGIC 9. I was using Plogue Bidule with an ADAT loopback into separate Aux tracks in logic. But the latency was terrible, unusable without latency fixer (expert sleepers) but it had me jumping through so many hoops, I gave up on it to find something tighter. Also logic aux tracks have been a complete pain for me since switching from logic 7. They seem to use so much CPU, spiking all over the place with bidule. Anyhow I'm going to be using VE Pro for a few weeks to see if I can solve my workflow problems. I won't be using Multi-outs, just stereo because I want to try and avoid using aux tracks as much as I can. I'm only going to be using Aux's for 4 reverb sends. I can't seem to find any detailed documentation about using VE PRO. The manual is all about Vienna instruments and about setting up multiple output instruments. When i instantiate a VE PRo in an instrument track and open a VI it uses that instrument track stereo outs. When I instantiate an second VE pro in the next instrument track what do i set the midi to in VE Pro to stop the first track triggering the second. There seem to be 2 midi lists in VE Pro mixer. What is each one for? If anyone can point me to some decent documentation on this I would be grateful.

  • I've just realised that I only had the Vienna Ensemble Manual and not the VE Pro manual, which would explain the lack of information I needed. Now that I've got the right manual I'm sure I'll be able to figure this out.
