  • VE Pro + Logic offline bounce unreliable

I have a PC running VEP (build 5436 on both Mac master and PC slave), and I think about 30% of the bounces I do in Logic, offline, results in a crash. Am I the only one having problems with offline bounces in Logic like this?

  • I found Logic lately hasn't been to good with offline bounces.  Found to many mistakes in it.  I started doing realtime bounces again for now.  Or if the project is really huge, bounce in place tracks one at a time to audio and then the entire mix in offline (from the audio files).  This has worked well for me.  Trying to bounce all tracks at once offline that weren't already converted to audio has been a hit or miss.  And it takes me to long to "sit and listen" to a bounced file every time I make one change.

  • I have never had problems with offline bounces. They have been reliable, and necessary for my workflow when I need to deliver 15 stems of a track for final production... It is only after adding VE Pro to the equation that I am getting crashes. BTW the crash happens not in the main Logic thread or Kernel thread but in some "apple windows-whatever" thread. Related to some GUI think apparently. Something about the VEP gui not being 100% cleanly written?

  • Hey Simon,

please send us your crash reports, this helps us to narrow down the problem.

    Thx!

  • Simon it's quite possible you are right about it normally being stable.  I only use VE Pro now a days so I haven't really tested other things.  Perhaps it really is VE Pro that is the unstable part but I haven't taken the time to confirm that against using other plugs and bouncing them.  Just not in my schedule at the moment.  Have had to use my work around for now.

  • Hi Simon, After you select bounce are you getting a spinning wheel? Also does it happen when you try to save out channel strips etc?

  • Hi composer87,

No, I don't get a spinning wheel. The bouncing will most of the time work fine in the beginning, but at some point, Logic just crashes and quits.

Save out channel strips is.... doing.... what?

I will send a crashlog to the VSL people as soon as I can:)
