  • VE Pro & Multicore Processors

Can plugins within VE Pro only access a single core, or does VE Pro assign plugins to multiple cores if availiable? I am currently using PLAY within VE Pro with success, however I believe it is only using PLAY on a single core, and wondering if putting it in its own VE Pro instance could resolve the strain it may be having on my CPU.

    Thanks!

    Sean

  • The processing of channels inside VE Pro is spread across cores, but not processing of a single plugin instance. This is the responsability of the plugin, not the host.

  • Thanks for the response Karel. So for example, if I have PLAY, two instances of Kontakt, a few audio plugins inserts, ect. in ONE instance of VE Pro, will it use multiple cores?

Would I benefit from putting Kontakt instances in its own VE Pro Instance, and PLAY in its own VE Pro instance?

  • Has anyone else tested this? It seems like it wouldn't impact the resources, but I could be wrong!

  • No, multiple instances will not improve anything. In a single instance things are already spread between cores. The threads setting in the preferences sets the amount of threads per VE Pro instance (an instance being a standalone or an instance in the server). This is also explained in the VE Pro manual.

  • Thanks Karel. I obviously overlooked that in the manual :-)
