  • VI output "mutes" when auditioning patches from VEpro slaves

Problem: VI output "mutes" when auditioning patches from VE Pro slaves

    the setup:

    Mac G5, OS 10.5.8 - ProTools HD 8.0.1cs2, VE Pro 5814 (rtas)

    Slave machine #1: macBook Pro, OS 10.6.3 - 32-bit VEPro 5814, VI version 5740

    Slave machine #2: winXP SP3, 32-bit 32-bit VEPro 5814, VI version 5740

With ProTools transport at idle, FREQUENTLY - when auditioning (loading) patches in EITHER slave machine, the output from ANY instance of VI will mute -- UNTIL -- you play transport of the host for a moment, then you "hear' the notes that you were trying to audition, and then the audio path is unmuted -- UNTIL you load a different patch, then the audio from the VI may mute again. As before, if you roll the transport for a moment, the audio comes back.

This is NOT specifically related to the VI 5740 beta -- this was happening using 5132. I just didn't have time to report it.

It's as if the audio loses its connection with the host, then it comes back if you roll the transport for a moment.

The problem appears when deleting patches from cells, then loading new patches. Or dragging patches OVER an existing cell. basically, load new patches, and it is likely that your audio path will crap out at some point. And rolling the transport fixes things, until it dies.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

Again, this is not directly related to the new VI beta-- it WAS happening with 5132 as well.

I can't replicate this on every patch load... but it does surface every day. Can't pinpoint the why this happening. Anyone else?
