I'm running PT HD Accel 2 on a PPC and VProE on an Intel 8 core slave.

It's really working well but I have had a few problems with Kontakt 4 and 4.1 crashing VEPro .......various builds including the latest.

Today was interesting. I loaded the song I was working on all day yesterday so I could have a final listen before printing the mix only to find VEP crashing on loading. Everytime...........most frustrating. I knew from prevoius experience to go straight to Kontakt as suspect #1.

I removed Kontakt from the plug folder. VEP starts no problem and loads the song but of course I need Kontakt in this track for all my horn and piano parts.

I re download Kontakt 4.1 and install. I uninstall VEPRO and download the latest build and install on both machines.

    Restart.

Same problem. With this song VEPRO will crash. I've been at it for about 3 hours now and it looks like I'm going to lose the day.

I CAN load other sessions with Kontakt and there is no crash. Just this session is causing problems for no good reason that I can think of.

Out of frustration I loaded a previous safety copy of the Protools session. It was saved 2 minutes earlier than the crashing session.

You guessed it. VEPRO loaded perfectly!!

So......check it out. It has nothing to do with VEPRO and everything to do with the PTools session save. WHAT!!!

And yet somehow it is linked with Kontakt.....remember I could get the session to load if Kontakt was not in the plug folder.

So there you have it. One day lost and a little wiser.

Does anyone have an idea why a PT session file could crash a VEPRO session? And what's with the Kontakt situation?

Anyway if you have this problem just try a saved backup PT session and see how you go.

  •  If you are on Mac, could you send a crash report to ? Thanks.
