  • VE Pro crashing when loading VE2 setups that have Apple Plug-ins

OK, you may be wondering why I would use Apple's plain ol' plug-ins in VE 2 to begin with.  Well, they were there! And more useful than you'd think...

These sessions are relics from when I was using VE 2 in Tiger.  Now that I'm in Snow Leopard, when I try to load VE2 setups that have Apple plug-ins inserted in VE Pro, VE Pro gives me an error message, saying "file is not valid" or something like that (I can check for the wording tomorrow when I'm back in my studio).  I don't have this problem with setups that don't have Apple plug-ins inserted.  Also if you try to instantiate Apple Plugs in VE Pro, VE Pro will crash instantly, a fact worthy of note regardless.

Problem is, I have a bunch of old VE 2 setups with Apple Plug-ins that I need to be able to load.  VE 2 will open in Snow Leopard (though not work reliably), but VE 2 has the same problem - the setups that have Apple Plugs will not load.

Is this a known issue, and is there a workaround?

    Thanks,

    Peter

  • I can't seem to reproduce these crashes with Apple AU's here. Which version of VE Pro are you using? Could you send a crash report to ? It would indeed be nice to have the exact wording of the error message as well. Thanks.

  • Sent you two crash reports - one for the 32-bit version, one for the 64-bit.  I'm using 4.0.5814.

    Thanks!

    Peter

  • I've had that happen with a VE2 project w an Apple AU inserted, loading in VE Pro (an early build).

  • Glad to hear I'm not the only one putting ketchup on filet mignon, as it were!  Submitted crash reports.  I'd be curious what happens when you try to insert an Apple AU plug-in now in VE Pro.  I get an instant crash.

  • I am booting with the 64-bit kernel in this case: a 32-bit instance of VEP in a 32 metaframe did nothing when I went to instantiate Apple AUs.

    The 64-bit instance crashed.

correction: both servers crashed, the 32-bit one took a long time to, crashing about the same time as the 64.
